Description This is my method of drawing. It's not a joke.
There are spelling mistakes in the tutorial (there has to be)
Download, +fav if you find this useful

I woke up extra early today to make sure I had enough time to make this tutorial. So after much demand, here it is

Happy drawing!

I'll try it some time... as soon as I get more accustomed to draw without a tablet. But for now, I'll try to get a scanner and sketch on paper.

finally someone understands the importance of speed and quality XD!!!

normally i'd end up with about 7 layers in the end, but 3-4 are for effects and a background.

and the other 3 are lineart, shading, and color. i like to know speed and quality for animations, but i do want others to see this ¬'u¬!

Mind = forever blown. I have to try that method out, I'm so guilty of using way too much layers, I often hit 200+ with my drawings.

Very helpful and inspiring tutorial. Thanks for making it! <3

Yeah the red text was a very poor choice xD Really had a difficult time to read! And you make some very bold statements in this tutorial - Such as the "Don't use layers at all" thing xD I mean sure, even if you simplify things without them, they can be a really important asset in your arsenal : ) I use them alot, and always has been. Sure, few layers works for your kind of painting, but for others it might not! Just saying ;D

Good tutorial otherwise

I will definitely have to give this a try...... since my drawing process is so incredibly and needlessly complicated/long/etc with plenty of layers. Thanks for making this ; v; I will definitely try it!

Lot's of new stuff! I'd been meaning to try out your technique for doing greyscale before colours, but didn't realize you blocked out some quick colours beforehand (or else it was lost on me.) Also liked the part about over-zooming. I also recently discovered keyboard shortcuts. Boy are they awesome!

Oh my god! XD

seyrii In reply to ??? [2012-04-27 13:01:56 +0000 UTC]

This really changes how I think of the whole process- but that's definitely not a bad thing.
I'm curious, though, What are the advantages of limited layers, other than for time's sake? I'v always been really cautious about drawing things, so having a lot of editable layers is you mess up has kind of been a crutch.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

hinoraito In reply to seyrii [2012-04-27 13:16:54 +0000 UTC]

less layers means less back and forth. And you practice been less "careful" and increase your level of confidence.

Sometimes I will create a new layer if I'm really unsure of a change I want to make. And whenever I am confident it is what I want, I merge the layers.
