Description A tutorial for making resin-filled bottlecap pendants.

Apologies for the huge file, but it's quite a long process.
Lots of bottlecap pendants in my jewelry gallery.

Latest examples at [link] - you'll notice in that pic that the pearl bead pendant is full of bubbles - that's what happens if you don't heat / blow them out. In this case, I thought they looked quite pretty!

Once you're confident with your resin technique, you can try using it to make pendants out of vintage watch bezels. Examples at [link] and [link]
Practice on bottlecaps first, though, because if you mess up, you feel less guilty throwing them away!

You can make these into rings too, by mounting a bottlecap onto a ring blank - see [link]

I'm happy to answer any queries or explain parts of the process where the tutorial is unclear.

Enjoy!

This tutorial's as amazing and dead-on as your domino one. You're awesome! Please let me know if you ever do one for making pendants, etc under a resin-mold cabochon. Particularly if you get into tinting the resin.

I haven't yet tried cabochons! I have tried tinting, but not with huge success, yet. My "screwed" bangle has a gold tint to it (and too many bubbles) [link]

Thank you so much! I've collected some bottlecaps but didn't know the first thing about how to do anything with them!

oh noes! Tried opening it with a wrench? Your teeth? Probably the resin inside has solidified around the cap!

Oh how my teeth did hurt after all the trying!!
I never could get them open to begin with and I am wondering if I am lacking brain cells or the safety caps are defective..

I'm guessing the resin has set around the cap threads. Take it back to the store and throw a scene!

It can take days! And if you've got the proportions wrong, it stays sticky and won't set at all. I've had a few disasters in my time ... But the nice thing about using bottlecaps is if you mess up you haven't wasted something too precious.

If it's not set hard after three days - hate to tell you - it's probably never going to set!
