Description
Here's my newest tutorial.I bought the polyester resin on ebay but I noticed you can also get it at Halfords (it's used for windscreen repairs and slightly cheaper).
Please note that it is very smelly and sticky and probably not very good on skin. Make sure to have a mat or something similar so you don't have resin everywhere afterwards.
The spoons I used came with some kitchenware I bought at Poundland and will NOT go back into the kitchen!!! It is important that they are very smooth for the resin to become that shiny.
Enjoy!

I'm pretty sure I'm using a different kind of resin, but would it help getting the bowl up off the spoons if I sprinkle some baking soda or corn starch on them?

You mean before putting it in? I wouldn't do it except if you want a frosted glass effect. The point of the spoons is that they're smooth and in turn will make the resin smooth and you can easily remove it. If you try it let me know how it went!

Can you also use epoxy resin? Or does it have to be polyester resin?

to be honest I never tried epoxy resin for the simple reason that polyester resin was much cheaper for me to get. i think it should work but i can't guarantee... maybe you can let me know after you tried?

i will let you know when i try i think that epoxy resin maybe would stick to the plastic... i have heard it binds to more surfaces than polyester...

From my experiences so far i can say that polyester resin makes a better, more smooth surface when used in a silicone mould but it is softer and you can easily leave marks when used without one unless you leave it to dry for months.

okay so it takes long to dry... epoxy should only take a day or so..

Really great tutorial and such a simple idea. That bowl has a million uses, a mixing bowl, candy dish, fruit bowl that's just in the dollhouse kitchen I'm so going to get some resin and make a few

nice! what if I don't have polyester resin, is there anything can be used as a substitute for it?

Not that I know. TLS will probably not be translucent enough to look like glass. I've read about people who claim it works with glue but it might be difficult to get it out of the mold again...
Resin is not that expensive, I've seen it for around £6 for a small bottle.

This is very very nice! I have a hard time using resin though, I seen unable to make the mix of the two parts right... :s

I never measure the two parts, I just do it approximately

Now I'm jealous! lol
My pieces never dries so it can only mean the proportions of the two parts are not right... I will leave that part of craft to others, lol
