I only have a 55-200 and 18-55 (basic xD) Does the old lens need someting in particular for this to work?

Interesting indeed, but how do you attach the lens backward?

This is really useful <3 The normal reversed lens-way doesn't work for my camera, but this seems to be an awesome technique! I'm going to look for a lens on eBay then I guess Thanks a lot for sharing.

Alright, got the lense yesterday I didn't manage to take a lot of pictures yet, but it works. Any tips how I can attach the lense so I don't have to hold it the whole time? I thought about a wide elastic band, but maybe there are better ways.

there are adapters you can buy so they can star on. I always hold it

Okay
I just played around with it a bit more and seriously.. I am amazed. I only took some photos of cookies and money (and what else is lying around on my desk) and it's just incredible. Got the structure on my cocos-splits clearly visible
Again, thanks a ton for sharing this method

I just made a lens yesterday, which permitted me to take photos of finger prints.

I'll be uploading a pic in the next couple of days, and might well submit it.

Great tutorial

Here is it, the result of my home made lens.

I'm rebuilding the prototype in to a more usable unit, which fixes on properly.

And then I'll be looking for more things to use it on.

I've already thought about what next to build

Hope you like.

VERY NICE! You need to clean your sensor haha

One of the hair bits was on the finger.
But sensor cleaning is done quite often.

After a shoot at the seaside last year,
I had to use a computer-vac

I thought I had something on the sensor one
day unit I noticed it only appeared with one lens!

Right on the back element :/

Home made lens is now in it's new form, and
I'll be cleaning everything this weekend before
I go out on Saturday.

Hmm, I'll have to try this. Do you think it would work better using a 35MM, 200MM or 300MM? I have a 2x telescopic zoom for all of them, to double the range (ie. 200MM = 400MM etc.)

honolo In reply to Langzee [2010-03-28 22:40:58 +0000 UTC]

it doesnt matter what lens you use on the camera, but the lens you put on the end should be a 50mm. a 35 mm might work, but idk aha. All will work great, but the higher you are the harder it is. Ex: using the 35mm will be easy, but using the 400 is time consuming. Its all about focusing.

*ramble ramble* the 400mm will fill the frame up with an ant while the 35 will show you texture on cloth

Langzee In reply to honolo [2010-03-29 22:37:14 +0000 UTC]

Ah okay, so the 35mm will work the best for the minute detail, and the 200-300mm's will be the best for size. Thank you!
