This is genius, but how does one go about fastening the make-shift lens to the hood? mine's relatively small, so there isn't much room to work with. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Very interesting Tutorial Thanks
I have just 2 questions: If the lens is smaller than the hood, don't you get weird looking photos?
What kind of hood did you use and how to attach the lens to it?

I'm defintly going to try it!
Also only one question:
You got 4 example pictures, the first from the left, in the second row... I just fell in love with that one, but dA keeps telling me that the page doesn't exist...

Oh, no
Why would you delete such a beauty? or may be you moved it somewhere...
I would love to have it as a wallpaper on one of my devices(as long as you approve such use of your art ^^ )

I love ingenuity.
Great idea that's one way that totally slipped by me.
I use lenses from old slide projectors and T.V. News cameras myself,
I just place the end of the tube over the end of my camera and voila!!!

Another way I've seen it done even more effectively is taking an old lens and flipping it around. I can't remember how he attached it to the camera, and you have to be 100 times more careful of scratches and dust, but the macro effect was unbelievable. You could hold the camera directly up to objects, and have such a short depth of field that you could have less than half the height of a single letter in focus ... oh, and enough zoom that you could fit in as few as two letters together into an entire image.
