Description
A tutorial on basic application of shutter speed and aperture. For now, it focuses on exposing while 'zeroed out'. Eventually I will also cover exposure compensation and bracketing.EDIT: Wow! I was definitely not expecting this kind of response. Thank you so much to everyone who has collected, faved, or commented on this tutorial. Eventually I hope to be able to respond personally to all of you, and I promise I'm working on "Bracketing", hopefully to be finished by middle of next week.
Keep Photographing, my friends!

This looks great, but whenever I see the word "Aperture" I can't help but think of Portal.

Love your tutorial! I always get F/ number confused on which way to put it for the larger or smaller aperture. Thanks so much for this! It helps a lot.

I'm glad it was helpful!
I had that problem at first too. For some reason my brain was convinced that a bigger number should mean a bigger opening. But I've finally got it down. lol

Thank you, thank you. I've been needing to have this explained to me in plain English. So many of the digital camera books I read assume you're converting from film and already know this stuff. I appreciate your taking the time to share this crucial information.

simple answers, simply explained
to the simple questions I've been asking for ever! Many tutorials just confuse more by providing unnecessary in-depth info.
This one: answers it all right away. Wonderful. Thank you. Can't wait for the next.

Hi buddy, thanx 4 the tut
but there's one problm with me, every photgraph i shot with PROGRAM AUTO mode it got blurred a lill bit.

golfiscool In reply to sundeep715 [2009-02-25 02:33:24 +0000 UTC]
That's probably caused by camera shake, not settings.

J-Farrell In reply to golfiscool [2009-04-05 18:13:29 +0000 UTC]
Indeed. If you're shooting handheld with a shutter speed less than, say, 1/30, it's probably camera shake. Try putting it on a sturdy tripod or increasing your ISO. Also, depending on the lighting situation Program Auto doesn't always work the best.
