Fabien could’ve probably gotten ran over in his state, he was so careless and free he didn’t acknowledge a thing in the world - all that mattered was the here and now - the fresh breeze rustling his mane, his powerful hooves thundering against the ground, and his adrenaline pumping so quickly that he could feel the rush of energy in every vein in his body.

That is - until he heard a loud, piercing squeal of terror that made Fabien snap out of his trance and slam to a halt, kicking up mounds of dirt as he dug his hooves into the earth. He skidded to a halt, chest heaving, and peered down at the small creature that was a mere inches from his nose.

A pig. He stopped for a pig.

The small piglet stared at Fabien as he collected himself and stepped out of the four indents he’d made in the ground from his hard stop. The stallion shook out his mane, then fixed the tiny creature with an unimpressed glare.

“You know I could’ve trampled you - and I would’ve broken one, if not several of my legs in the process. Horses aren’t as sturdy as they look.” He spoke indignantly, whether or not the piglet could understand him.

The piglet just gave him a blank look, sniffing the stallion’s scent with its wet, wiggling nose. Fabien just rolled his eyes and stepped over the little animal obstructing his path, the pig following him with its eyes.

“You’re lucky you have the shriek of a banshee, I would’ve ran right over you and you would’ve been a goner.” Fabien said with a flick of his tail.

There was a distant shrill from another pig coming from the forest to their left, causing the piglet to perk up. It looked at Fabien once more, almost as if asking if it could leave.

“Is that your mother?” Fabien questioned, raising a brow as he gazed into the dense trees where the call had come from. The piglet just snuffled, almost as if it were confirming the horse’s assumption. “Well, you’d best return to her then. She’ll be furious with both of us.”

The piglet snorted, then stood up and shook, freeing the dirt Fabien had kicked up from its thin hairs. Then, off it went, trotting into the foliage and disappearing with a faint rustle. Fabien rolled his eyes, annoyed that his run had been interrupted. Honestly, parents need to look after their children better.
