this is a great tutorial, but how do you lock a layer? I can't figure it out

i know in photoshop, there is a little padlock symbol just above the layer list. click it when the layer you want to lock is selected

Anything would be great. Possible tutorials include how to make outline, or lineart, or coloring, or shading, or anything. And it's difficult to find tutorials that are clear. Often people don't make ones clear enough for complete beginners.
