Description
Mixed media collage panel.Media used: printed map, papers, book cover, gesso transfer, metal bits, wooden spool, twine, cheesecloth; on wood base.
Dimensions: 19.5" x 9.75" (49.5 x 24.75 cm.)
The finished panel was installed into an assemblage case (2016), which I later dismantled.
I decided that I prefer the panel on its own as a wall-mounted piece.
*Collage panel and file image updated: May, 2018
Original assemblage (no longer extant).

Yes, it is! A portion from a reproduction of a 17th century map.

So very evocative of place...of memory....a life spent spinning in place.

I much appreciate your reading of this...it is very similar to my own (as you will see in the finished piece).

Thank you, Vanja!
The assemblage case is nearly finished, and like this panel, it is done in earthy browns and faded greens, with an old-world feeling.

Hi, Lucia.
I have had this printed map based on a 17th C. map of Hispania Regnum rolled up in my basket of papers for a year or more, waiting for the opportunity to use it. When I decided to experiment more fully with a collage panel, it jumped right up and volunteered as a starting point.
"Pick me! Pick me!"

Thanks, Markus.
Early phase of what will eventually find its way into a more involved assemblage piece, but I wanted to share this part as it stood.

Thanks, Chris. I like that little detail myself...somewhat like electrical energy emanating from her.
