Oh my god. you people realize that the artist doesn't get to choose what get's a DD. i still have no clue what so ever of why this was chosen as a DD so stop discussing it here. if you dont like it. tell the proper people you can find it here FAQ #873: What do I do when I disapprove of a Daily Deviation feature?
and as for "lumping cutting and suicide together", what can i say... i'm sorry. i'm not going to change it now, and at the time it was what was going through my mind.
for the people who are saying stuff about how cutting can be good. well. i wont lie, my best friend used to cut. she did it to relieve stress. but from my personal standpoint, i know it isn't healthy, and it is something i am very glad i never did.
and if i was refering to assisted suicide i would have put that so please stop using that as an argument as well. i was talking about self suicide. like slitting your wrists or hanging yourself and so on.
any other haters out there... well i'm sorry you feel that way i am not here to change your feelings however.

No I'm pretty sure they're using it right, nor means something said before but is also applied to the following. So she she doesn't support suicide and she also doesn't support attempted suicide. Unless you ment something else, that is.

the sentence as a whole, "i do not support suicide nor attempted suicide nor cutting yourself" is grammatically wrong. if they had simply used "or", they would have been right. this is a classic case of "i think i'll use some fancy words here just to look smart even though i'm using them wrong".

I thought about it once, and I'm very glad I didn;t go through with it. I do not support harming oneself because it doesn't solve the original problem. Thank you for having the guts to make this very controversial stamp.

I think its so cool this stamp got a DD!!!! 
from a civil rights perspective I support people's right to death with dignity in a manner of their choosing (legally assisted suicide) but ALSO I tell everyone i know, if they ever feel they really need to do it, PLEASE tell people first. don't leave everyone as a surprise. yes people will try to talk you out of it, but please don't just leave people without answering any questions..... let people know what you are doing if possible... that is so painful to be left with nothing but questions.
about cutting - I believe that cutting is a way to deal with pain, to release tension, to have control over ones surroundings.. and I do believe there are better ways to achieve those goals than cutting. like.. writing.. drawing.. sculpting.. acting... talking.. dancing.... in other ways, there are many more creative/beneficial ways to express one's pain or modify one's mood that slicing ones self up. but I am willing to be wrong about this as well.

well.. I really hope nothing I said made you depressed, as that was totally not my intention. I just think this is something that hits a lot of people closely, because so many have either had personal experience w/depression etc, and so have a lot of thoughts on it, or they haven't, and so are judgmental.
actually as I was reading all the comments last night I was a little concerned because some of the comments seemed a little rough - and I thought it was a little thoughtless really, considering the topic was SUICIDE and you were very honest about your personal feelings with it all. so, please, please don't let it get you down. and as I said, I hope I didn't do anything to make you feel bad as my intent was and is to be supportive. :}

oh no. it had nothing to do with what you said. it was a lot of other people's comments that had/has me down. and it does hit many people closely, including myself, so yeah...
and my depression just keeps getting stronger and stronger. not just from this but from many many other things.

I get the feeling it was a very personal thing, and therefore all this rough comments are going to hit harder than just a regular piece of art..
well as you yourself know so well, don't let these people bring you down! they are either people who simply disagree, which is nothing to worry about, or they are people who don't know what they are talking about, = same thing. You did a great thing, even though it was personally painful, because it did spread a useful message and you probably did help some people along with =ibjennyjenny 's article. there is a quote I remember that says "you can't turn on the light without having to pay a bill".. that means its tough sometimes to be the one to 'turn on the light' people who do often get shit but still, the light is on and its a good thing. if you are feeling depressed for any reason as you yourself know so well, talk talk talk, reach out to your friends, darnit note me if you want to. no i didn't at all! the controversy... it is chaotic... bad enough i actually had to block people.
yeah... when i put up the stamp... there were like 20-30 people who had faved the article... now it's up to like 200 or more.
i didn't mean to turn on the light... i think i was just standing by the switch and maybe leaned against the wall in depression, and the light just swiched on.
