Description

As the girls took their break, they all immediately opened their backpacks and grabbed their snacks and water.

Jane Deus automatically sat down as she took a long drink of water, now realizing how sore her feet felt. She saw Annalise Otohollan and Louise Oranha sit down a few feet ahead of her, talking and snacking on granola bars, and Kaana Sirhiss sitting outside of the gate to the Testing Center. Jane knew Kaana didn’t like this place, and also assumed she was still in a rather bad mood, so she understood why she decided to rest there.

“For a hike with Coach Clawdeen, this trip is going surprisingly smoothly.” Jane said to herself before taking another drink. “Maybe a bit too smoothly…”

“Yeah I noticed that too.” Louise said, startling Jane because she was now sitting closer to her. “I also noticed that you are drinking out of the wrong water bottle there, Miss Prince.”

Jane then realized that she was drinking out of her designated springwater bottle for the ramen shop, and it was already half empty. She then gave a look of dread as she shoved it back into her bag and grabbed a new one.

“Don’t worry too much about it, Lissy over there made the same mistake you did.” Louise said as she pointed over to a frustrated Annalise. “I had to point that out to her too.”

“You think we should keep our eyes peeled in case Coach tries to pull any tricks on us?” Jane said in a sigh as she directed her eyes towards Coach Clawdeen, who was currently talking on the phone.

“Yeah, I’ll make sure to tell the others.” Louise said as she went back to calm Annalise and relay the message to her and Kaana.

After a couple more minutes, Coach Clawdeen called the girls together to start up their walk again. As they ventured further from the Testing Center, all of the girls were a bit on edge but still somewhat enjoying themselves.

Annalise would talk about the natural scenery from a field book she brought from the Wilderness Exploration Club, Jane brought her notepad and camera to capture anything she could use in a future paper article, while Louise and Kaana were keeping a close eye on Coach Clawdeen.

“I haven’t seen anything suspicious from Coach yet.” Kaana whispered to Louise.

“Even if nothing happens we still have to keep an eye out.” Louise whispered back, not taking her eyes off of their coach.

“What are you guys talking about?” Annalise said as she nearly ran into Kaana and Louise, with the two of them giving her a raised eyebrow. “Oh right, keeping an eye on Coach. Gotcha.”

“Dude! Keep your voice down!” Kaana angrily whispered. “We will be done for if she finds out that we are suspicious of her!”

“Maybe this will help!” Jane said as she ran to the front, stopping the girls on their tracks as she took a picture with the flash on.

“Agh! That isn’t funny Jane!” Annalise said as she clenched her now stinging eyes shut.

“It’s also bright enough already out here!” Kaana yelled as she lifted her sunglasses to rub her eyes. “Do you ever turn the flash off for that thing!”

“Not when I want to get a little something for posterity’s sake!” Jane snickered as she turned the flash off and took another look at the picture. “You guys really should have seen your faces at that moment. They were absolutely priceless!”

Once Louise’s eyes finally adjusted, she noticed something that shocked her speechless for a split second.

“Delete the photo, Jane.” Kaana said in an annoyed tone.

“What? It's not like I am going to post it everywhere when we get back.” Jane said as she played keep away with Kaana and using camera.

“”Uh, guys?” Louise said, trying to get the other’s attention.

“THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT YOU’D DO! NOW DELETE IT!” Kaana yelled as she jumped for the camera.

“Calm down! This isn’t something we should be fighting about!” Annalise said as she tried to split the two up.

“You Guys!” Louise said in a more annoyed, but still shocked tone.

“How would you know about that you little-” Jane teased before being interrupted.

“GUYS! WHERE IS COACH?!” Louise yelled, finally catching everyone's attention.

The three other girls looked in horror as they noticed that their Coach and guide was nowhere to be found.

“Oh shoot…” The three girls thought in unison and they stared at the barren trail.

“This is fine.” Annalise said with an anxious laugh. “She probably didn’t go too far ahead.”

“Y-yeah!” Jane said nervously. “Maybe if we sprint down the trail we can catch up with her!”

The four girls, in agreement, booked it down the trail to try to find their coach, but after a few minutes of running down the trail, they found something worse than not finding Coach Clawdeen.

“Oh just perfect! Now there’s a fork in the road!” Kaana said, frustrated and out of breath.

“The path’s split in two! Which way do we go?” Annalise said in a panic.

“Looks like we are gonna have to split up and find out.” Louise said. “Two people to the right, two people to the left.”

“But who’s going with whom?” Jane asked.

“Well since you and Kaana here were fighting earlier, we need to have you two split so no funny business happens.” Louise stated.

“I agree,” Annalise said. “So how about I take Kaana on the path to the right and Jane goes with you on the left, Louise.”

“Sounds good to me. Any objections ladies?” Louise asked to see no one rejecting the idea. “Good, now let’s get going!”

“Right!” The girls said as they split ways in teams of two calling for Coach Clawdeen in hopes that they will find her soon.

Thank you all so much for tuning in for part 3 of Noodle Quest! I hope you enjoyed it and that I will see you in the next one!
