Description
this is steven.he is homeless.
he has the kindest most radiant soul you can imagine.
he loves seattle, LA and chicago.
he dislikes san diego.
he reads anne rice, adores michelangelo and
likes to visit museums.
(he had me at michelangelo).
he says most everyone is nice to him
and only about 1 in 100 people
are assholes.
that's not too shoddy.
stories.
sit down with someone like steve
and swap stories.
it will change who you are.
* the white outline around his head is
not due to treatment. it's just the way
the gameworks awning looks framed
around his head.
or maybe he's an angel..? hahaa..
FULL-VIEW, for me.

sorry i'm so late in responding to this comment. when someone leaves a comment such as this
i am moved so much that it's hard to find the right words to reply.
This photo is very, VERY special to me. 'something magical' just as you said.
to meet someone who owns next to nothing and yet possesses such tenderness and LIGHT
is an incredible experience. I'm so glad you see that. I'm so glad you feel that.
thanks so much for writing.
This photo received a lot of comments but yours was truly special.

i want to take him out for lunch and ask him more about himself when i next see him.

ahh yes! i noticed 'steven' had a few more faves today suddenly.
thank you so much. he was a very rare breed - so content with things as they were.
not at all bleak or embittered even as 99% of the people walking by treated him as
though he was invisible. he was so... i want to say Pure. quite angelic.
well, the eyes say it all.
thanks again sweety.

wow, this is one of the best "street photography" photographs i think i've seen. his expression is perfect. his eyes show a lot of kindness and seem to bring out a story.
wonderful photo, and i love the story you put to go with it.
btw, i'm sure you get asked this a ton, but how do you come up to people like this and get a picture of them? sometimes i'll be walking downtown and i see some homeless people that i would love to take a picture of... i just feel strange and kind of rude doing it... but i would really love to. it'd also be great to here stories like that.
wonderful work

i'm not sure what the question is? how do i approach people?
i simply just do it. i know i have to take risks to get
the shots i want and that's the most important thing to me
so i'll do anything to get them. i see many people on the streets.
sometimes i am compelled to sit and chat with them and i always follow
that instinct. sometimes i'm not so i keep going. it's just that simple.
you have to be committed i think. you have to push through your
self-imposed boundaries and
Just Do It.

street photographing scares me now. :tear:
