Description
"It was my thirtieth year to heavenWoke to my hearing from harbour and neighbour wood
And the mussel pooled and the heron
Priested shore
The morning beckon
With water praying and call of seagull and rook
And the knock of sailing boats on the net webbed wall
Myself to set foot
That second
In the still sleeping town and set forth."
- from '
A 'stained glass' fractal stretched over with netting and tortured into a singularity with a super_shape FX.
Edit: damn that capital pee, turning into an emote

Thank you indeed! And it has the 'virtue' of managing to look OK in the thumbnail view

Wow, thank you! A comparison to an artist like Mondrian is a compliment indeed I've only really ever seen his grid works before, but a quick Google yielded this

But I'm dismayed at not saving the parameters and being unable to produce the 'netting' effect

Oh nooo, what a shame about not saving I notice with the latest Apo, it asks if you've saved, or words to that effect, when you close it, that's a good idea I think

Sounds good to me! There's something not right about the autosave, though...

As a beginner i'm completely stunned on how you have a complete control of the flame design... how can this be done? As far as I can see there's always a level of randomness when creating flames with apophysis.
oh, and by the way thanks for the for the tutorials link! It's been extremely helpful so far.

You're welcome! Whilst there always may be a random element, there are certain styles or techniques that begin with 'seed' parameters. The work then begins in searching for a fresh direction: this may be called 'tweaking', though more strongly 'exploration'.
I'll give an example of starting from scratch for disc flames that I provided alsewhere: new blank flame, make #2 all disc and begin rotating it a degree at a time. Add tiny amounts of other variations to #1. To make square, add a polar FX and double its size. They look pretty rough on preview but a mid-quality test render reveals the detail

ID,
I would love to see this without the "fx" and webbing. The design is so intricate and abstrac I want to see the clean shapes with vibrant color. With the texture you already have aside from the webbing and postwork it will be superb.

Well, I'll go back and check, but I fear it loses rather too much of what appears to be 'under the net'. That's actually down to 'split': I tried to render with flam3, but the version I used didn't recognise split and it looked horrible. The new release (what timing!) does recognise split. Still, I'll attempt to remove the net and preserve some texture and post in scraps if successful.

I've been concentrating on reproducing the original as I realised I hadn't saved it. I'm pretty close now. As for your request: the 'net' can be removed but the colours don't look so good; removing the FX just completely destroys it. Somehow, it focused and intensified the colours.

O, what a tangled web we weave,
When first we practice to deceive! ~Sir Walter Scott
the gradient is brilliant, and the texture is amazing... it has sorts of a kaleidoscopeic effect going... it really caught my attention even tho I am extremely tired....kinna made a really neat hallucination! lmao.

I wanted to do something original with the style. This is actually my second take on it: the first has been reserved for the Benoit Mandelbrot Fractal Art Contest 2007 which for once I've been bold enough to enter. Have you entered? Only 4 days to go
