For those who haven't yet seen them, these are the symbols for use in Neo Redux. All 18 official types are represented, plus Cosmic, Sound, Light, and Cyber (respectively, on the bottom). They were included merely because they are some of the most commonly requested "fan-types," and I was asked to create symbols for them.
Don't ask me what the type matchup for those types would be, either. I haven't thought about it, and since they aren't types that I necessarily agree with, I don't really plan to!
I did alter the "official" colors to those more of my liking.
UPDATE 12/9/11:
Dragon symbol is now the official Dragon-type TCG symbol found in the upcoming Dragon Selection set.
UPDATE 5/23/13:
With the new Fairy-type Pokémon appearing in Pokémon X/Y, I decided to create a symbol for the type, based on Sylveon's bow.
HUGE UPDATE 6/1/13:
I've decided to completely update the way the symbols are presented (a bit more stylized). The names of the types are now found underneath the symbols as well. Bird-type has been removed in this version. Please download for full-view!
UPDATE 6/11/13:
Looks like Fairy-type is real! The new Eeveelution, Sylveon, is confirmed Fairy, and Jigglypuff, Marill, and Gardevoir have Fairy added onto their original types. Another new Pokémon, Flabébé, has also been shown (pure Fairy).

Hey there,
I am very interested in using your artwork for a personal project of mine. I see you are very okay with that and notice you would eventually like to see the finalized project your art is a part of so I will certainly show you when that time comes
Just posting so you are aware and also so you know I will not be using the full image or all of the types, I am only interested in the types that apply to the games.
I am a huge fan of all your type symbols Pokemon has failed to offer pictures for and because I am posting I suppose I may share an opinion or two, I agree with you that the Light type is fully unnecessary, I also think sound is as well. Cyber I am okay with to cover the more elaborate details of the Pokemon universe like porygon, missing no. and deoxys (human made pokemon essentially) and although I do like your Cyber Type image I feel there could be a simpler image to compliment that division of Pokemon (not sure myself what that would be, just an artistic intuition). I feel that Cosmic is a very necessary division to include as a "Fan Type" but I think the title does not compliment those that may fall into that category (as I am assuming Pokemon such as Arceus, Palkia, Dialga, etc. fall under this category). I, myself, have come to call them the "Deus" Class of legends mostly because I view them as creators within the Pokemon Universe and have come to call Pokemon like the 3 Birds, dogs, and Regi the "Guardian" Class of legends as I feel they are still important to the universe/world but do not have the power to create. Other than that I LOVE your images for the missing types and after browsing through almost, if not, all of your art and work I can say with confidence that you have wonderful talent. Thanks for making your work public!
On a last side note, I never saw any renditions or personal art for Maps in the Pokemon world. Have you ever drawn any up in a similar style or do you mainly focus on art for the TCG game?

also curse type could be a consideration. Missing No. would be the first of this type and it would be based off of computer viruses as well as viruses such as influenza, the mosaic virus and such. (not my idea BTW, this idea is credited to my friend Xxandermonn414.)

Curse-type? Nah. MissingNo. and computer viruses would fit in well in a theoretical Cyber-type, and viruses (such as influenza) would work fine as Poison-types.

see one of my friends thought that the cyber type could be more based on computers that way the curse type could be super effective against the cyber type.

Hello, I'm a member of the pokemon group where we have pokemon that we need to draw and make refs for. I'm in the process of revising my ref sheet style and was looking to make my own energy symbols to represent the missing types but I really like these. I was wondering if you would be ok with me using these in my ref sheets, I'd definitely credit you, but I do upload a lot of refs so I'm not sure you'd like to get spammed with the mentioned alerts, I could always link this pic instead of putting your name.

Ok, I'll do that then. If you had the time it would be great if you could offer pointers as I've never made fake cards before. I was also wondering if you knew where I could find templates/blanks for the EX Delta Species cards?

I believe you might have some luck over at PokemonCardResources . I know you can find a decent collection of EX blanks, though I'm not sure if there are Delta Species available in particular. Fangking made them long ago (~2005-2006), but they're now outdated by today's blank standards and many of the sites which hosted them are not defunct.
As for pointers, I'd love to help! For me to give the best advice, though, I need to know which program you're using.

Yeah, I checked and the EX folder doesn't have Delta templates. Lots of other good stuff though. I'll give Fangking a look. The program I use is paint.net. I seem to be the only person on earth who uses it, though I do plan to buy Photoshop. Or maybe you could recommend a certain program?

Absolutely Photoshop. If I'm not mistaken, Adobe offers free copies of older versions, so that's something to consider before dropping $500+
Quick search came up with Fang's ex Delta Species blanks (well, most of them): www.pokebeach.com/forums/threa… I'm sure a more thorough search will reveal more, but worst case you can find some of his non-ex, non-Delta Species blanks and edit them together.

Thanks, yeah I'll definitely use these and tweak them to get non-EX, dual types, etc. And I'll look into an old version of photoshop. From what I've heard illustrators don't even need half the functions on it, so it'd definitely be worth it. Thanks for the help.

If I could make a suggestion, though, I'd try and avoid using Fang's blanks -- they were amazing at the time, but they're just too outdated now. I know both aschefield101 and Metagross101 have made some beautiful EX blanks, so perhaps you could ask either of them if they'd be able to edit them?

I watch you, metagross, aschenfield, shiningbill and other card-fakers whose names I can't remember on here anyway, so I'll just keep an eye out. I'm proper pumped to put my art in a fake card now

Yes very much so. I can make them with the Pokemon cards and people love them. I can only imagine with your images they would look sweet.
I'm starting my own button line and saw yours and thought they would be awesome as buttons.
Plus you have all the elements. My biggest complaint is people asking for the other elements which I do not have.

Thanks! I used Illustrator for the symbols themselves, while the brushed metal icons were put together in Photoshop.
Yeah, the four types at the bottom are examples of some of the more...requested types, and aren't necessarily any that I agree with.

We need a sound, light, cosmic, and cyber type so much

Sound I can maybe get behind...the others? Nah. Theoretical Light-, Cosmic-, and Cyber-type Pokémon already fit into the other types pretty well.

I was tired as hell last night. And i really still agree with them all save light. Cyber DOESNT fit into anything. We have Normal, Electric, Steel, Ghost, Bug, and more that fit Cyber. Cosmic, it has Psychic, Fairy, Normal, and Dark types that fit under it. Sound, is by far, the most obvious of them all. How does normal=sound? Normal, Dragon, Flying, Psychic, and Dark all have pokemon that would be better suited for Sound. And then some pokemon, like Politoad, Kricketune, and Mismagius should just have it added.

Well, Gamefreak seems to think Normal is still a good catch-all for sound-based and cyber/manmade Pokémon. Or, at the very least, it can act as a placeholder for "types" that don't warrant a full typing.
Considering the Pyroar line was given Normal-type as a secondary typing for seemingly little reason, I can only assume it was because of the line's connection to sound (Noble Roar). This is the same reason why the Jigglypuff line kept Normal while adding Fairy instead of, say, the Clefairy line (pure Fairy). The way I see it is this...sound waves are essentially vibrations, right? Well, sound-based Pokémon's typings depend on how the sound waves are produced. Pokémon which produce sound through their mouths (Jigglypuff and family, Exploud and family, Litleo/Pyroar) are part Normal-type, as there's no element associated with it. However, other Pokémon that are associated with sound/vibrations produce sounds through other means (Noivern for example) are given a typing that better suits it -- a typing which overrides Normal. That's why Noibat and Noivern are the only dual-typed Flying-types to have Flying as a primary type (the sound-based parts of their designs take precedence over the dragon-based parts).
As for why Cyber-type isn't a thing -- well, I'm not a designer at Gamefreak but I can't think of too many diverse designs that could fit in that typing. Look at any of the real types, and there's plenty of diversity within each.
Plus, 18-types is more than enough. Fairy-type was added to balance Dragons (as Steel- and Dark-types were to balance Psychic). I can't think of how any additional types would further balance the type chart. In my opinion, Ice-types could use a little a buff, but I can't think of how any proposed types would do so. Additionally, with how Gamefreak is (sadly) making the game easier and easier, I don't think they'd want to complicate things (i.e. the type chart) any more.
