For those who haven't yet seen them, these are the symbols for use in Neo Redux. All 18 official types are represented, plus Cosmic, Sound, Light, and Cyber (respectively, on the bottom). They were included merely because they are some of the most commonly requested "fan-types," and I was asked to create symbols for them.
Don't ask me what the type matchup for those types would be, either. I haven't thought about it, and since they aren't types that I necessarily agree with, I don't really plan to!
I did alter the "official" colors to those more of my liking.
UPDATE 12/9/11:
Dragon symbol is now the official Dragon-type TCG symbol found in the upcoming Dragon Selection set.
UPDATE 5/23/13:
With the new Fairy-type Pokémon appearing in Pokémon X/Y, I decided to create a symbol for the type, based on Sylveon's bow.
HUGE UPDATE 6/1/13:
I've decided to completely update the way the symbols are presented (a bit more stylized). The names of the types are now found underneath the symbols as well. Bird-type has been removed in this version. Please download for full-view!
UPDATE 6/11/13:
Looks like Fairy-type is real! The new Eeveelution, Sylveon, is confirmed Fairy, and Jigglypuff, Marill, and Gardevoir have Fairy added onto their original types. Another new Pokémon, Flabébé, has also been shown (pure Fairy).
UPDATE 8/21/13:
Updated with the official Fairy-type symbol.
UPDATE 8/24/13:
New Cosmic and Light symbols.
Enjoy!

Six gens and NO light-type. I guess fairy-type is the closest thing for a light type, right?

Yeah, type match up-wise, it's pretty similar to the Light-type that many have been theorizing about for generations (strong against Dark, for example). Works for me; it's a better idea than Light-type, and far more flexible in the monsters that can fit into the type.

No, I won't be making any other versions of the symbols, and especially not without Gymjack's permission.
Do you mean you're asking for the Fairy-type symbol I used before the official one was released? If so, it's in my deviations somewhere.

Is there a particular reason you need a color name?

These type symbols look pretty cool! I've disliked Light since Fairy was rumored, but I do like some interpretations of the Sound and Cosmic types.
Overall, Psychic and Fairy are both light elements to me, kind of similar to the idea of Ground and Rock both being earth elements.

ILKCMP In reply to IntegerMova [2014-07-04 01:47:40 +0000 UTC]
I agree, although Fighting is somewhat of a light element as well. Like you, I'm not particularly fond of Light as a type, either.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
IntegerMova In reply to ILKCMP [2014-07-04 02:04:11 +0000 UTC]
I guess Fighting, despite being based on raw combat and aura, is a mix between most Eastern RPGs' light and earth elements. I mention earth because Fighting shares a TCG typing with Rock and Ground. I don't know why it still shares it after all these years.
I think the 18 official types would be perfect as they are, but if only Sound and Cosmic were real.
It seems like Normal is more of a miscellaneous typing, even though it should mostly focus on basic physical attacks, not sound-based moves.

Thanks!
To be honest, I haven't given the bottom types much thought (if at all); they were included because they're some of the more requested fake types in the fandom. I don't support the types, but I was having fun making the symbols so I figured I'd keep going past the official types! I suppose Cyber would be a glitch/computer/electronic type -- Porygon and the like, I guess?

Magnemite line, Porygon line, Klink line, Scizor, nosepass line, genesect, and durant and registeel all fall well into Cyber Typing

The Porygon line for sure, but I'm not sure about the others (especially not Scizor). Cyber, as I would envision it, is more digital/virus/computer-esque.

SnazzyPanic In reply to ILKCMP [2014-06-27 10:53:15 +0000 UTC]
Well Scyther starts as a normal Bug and then turns into a metal bug which sounds like a Cyber Virus, same with genesect except he is literally cyber enhanced by humans, magnemite line reminds me of drones, nd klink Just makes sense as a cybernetic machine, registeel looks like a fat terminator lol and maybe cryogonal can fit into it as a Cyber/Ice type as he looks man made.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ILKCMP In reply to SnazzyPanic [2014-06-27 14:26:20 +0000 UTC]
Scizor pretty much just has a metallic exoskeleton, nothing very Cyber-esque about it (to me, at least). I can see where you're coming from regarding Genesect, though! The Magnemite line I might agree with if the existing types didn't already fit better. Klink/Klang/Klinklang don't seem that cybernetic to me -- just plain gears. Registeel, perhaps, but Steel fits it much better (especially taking in the other Regis into account).
Not sure I agree with Cryogonal, though. Its Pokédex entry in White even says it's "born in snow clouds."

SnazzyPanic In reply to ILKCMP [2014-06-28 22:55:49 +0000 UTC]
I will argue Cyber/ Steel Scizor all day haha but yeah the others are really how you perceive them Cryogonal is a weird one but it looks man made to me, but the pokedex doesn't lie lol

hello3212 In reply to ILKCMP [2014-06-15 10:07:03 +0000 UTC]
I guess Porygon would make sense. Cosmic could be Clefairy, Jigglypuff etc, Sound could be like Noivern, and Light could be... Xerneas? I don't know, but the Light/Dark divide could work there. Maybe Xerneas could be Fairy/Light, while Yveltal could be Dark/Sound.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ILKCMP In reply to hello3212 [2014-06-15 14:58:35 +0000 UTC]
I'd probably add Cosmic to Clefairy, but change Jigglypuff's Normal into Sound. The Exploud line would also be good candidates for Sound. Once Noivern was revealed, though, I think that put the final nail in the coffin for a theoretical Sound-type.
There was a discussion when XY was released about why the Jigglypuff line kept Normal (and why Litleo/Pyroar are part Normal), and it was thought that Normal is kind of an unofficial placeholder for different "types" that don't warrant an actual type...Sound, Light, etc. Jigglypuff makes sense, and so do Litleo and Pyroar with Noble Roar. I suppose that could be why Helioptile and Heliolisk are part Normal, too -- there's an emphasis on basking in sunlight to generate energy, so their Normal is a placeholder for a Light-type, perhaps?

hello3212 In reply to ILKCMP [2014-06-18 15:40:10 +0000 UTC]
^Excellent point. I'd also add Kricketot and Kricketune to the list of Sound types.
But going on your hypothesis, what placeholder type would Girafarig be? Or Bibarel, Sawsbuck, DIGGERSBY?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ILKCMP In reply to hello3212 [2014-06-18 18:01:35 +0000 UTC]
That's different, as their primary types are Normal.
Take a look at each Pokémon. While in-game there isn't a difference when calculating damage, STAB, etc. based on type order, the order certainly matters when considering design. Take the Rhyperior and Golem evolution lines, for example. Both are part Ground-type and part Rock-type. However, Rhyperior and family are Ground/Rock, while Golem and family are Rock/Ground. This makes sense, because Geodude, Graveler, and Golem are all made of rock, while Rhyhorn, Rhydon, and Rhyperior really just have thick hides. The secondary type is usually less prominent in the design.
The reason I bring this up, is because the same hold true for the Pokémon you listed. Girafarig's front have is a pretty normal giraffe, while it's Psychic-type is derived from its tail -- not the primary aspect of the Pokémon. Bibarel starts as the Normal-type Bidoof, but gains Water-type when it evolves. It utilizes the water and Water-type attacks, but not nearly as well as Pokémon whose primary-type is Water. Same thing can be said for Diggersby; it starts its life Normal, but when it evolves its ears become more capable of digging, thus it gains the Ground-type. I would say that Deerling and Sawsbuck are Normal/Grass mainly due to their connection with the seasons -- and even then, it isn't a strong representation, as the line learns more Normal-type moves than Grass-type (as opposed to, say, Venusaur or Meganium). I suppose you can add the plethora of Normal/Flying types into the mix, too -- most are just normal birds, but with the ability to fly.
Until the Pyroar and Heliolisk lines, Normal was always a primary type. It was the secondary Normal-type that many felt was unnecessarily tacked-on; I could see Litleo and Pyroar doing just fine as pure Fire-types, and the same with Helioptile and Heliolisk as pure Electric-types. There had to be something about their concepts and designs to warrant a secondary Normal-type -- likely sound and light. Compare to the Jigglypuff line -- why did they remain part Normal, while Clefairy and family became pure Fairy-types? The only reason we could think of was the Jigglypuff line's correlation to sound-based attacks.

Oh ok. Would it be possible to know what filter effects you used or just how you made the "coin" look and how you made the Beveled Punched-in look for the symbol? As far as the .PNG goes, I am trying to make custom symbols myself and I like the idea of the "Coin" look that you have so unfortunately a .PNG wouldnt help me much. Thank you though . I appreciate the quick response.

Unfortunately, the specific technique I used to make the individual circles I've long since forgotten. IThe symbols themselves, though, were a pretty simple use of the Bevel and Emboss functions in Photoshop -- nothing too fancy there, just your typical fare. Similar Bevel/Emboss functions were used on the circles themselves, too.
