For those who haven't yet seen them, these are the symbols for use in Neo Redux. All 18 official types are represented, plus Cosmic, Sound, Light, and Cyber (respectively, on the bottom). They were included merely because they are some of the most commonly requested "fan-types," and I was asked to create symbols for them.
Don't ask me what the type matchup for those types would be, either. I haven't thought about it, and since they aren't types that I necessarily agree with, I don't really plan to!
I did alter the "official" colors to those more of my liking.
UPDATE 12/9/11:
Dragon symbol is now the official Dragon-type TCG symbol found in the upcoming Dragon Selection set.
UPDATE 5/23/13:
With the new Fairy-type Pokémon appearing in Pokémon X/Y, I decided to create a symbol for the type, based on Sylveon's bow.
HUGE UPDATE 6/1/13:
I've decided to completely update the way the symbols are presented (a bit more stylized). The names of the types are now found underneath the symbols as well. Bird-type has been removed in this version. Please download for full-view!
UPDATE 6/11/13:
Looks like Fairy-type is real! The new Eeveelution, Sylveon, is confirmed Fairy, and Jigglypuff, Marill, and Gardevoir have Fairy added onto their original types. Another new Pokémon, Flabébé, has also been shown (pure Fairy).
UPDATE 8/21/13:
Updated with the official Fairy-type symbol.
UPDATE 8/24/13:
New Cosmic and Light symbols.
Enjoy!

I think something like one of these as a background, but also with the texture from the symbols:

bit.ly/1n97huy
bit.ly/1t5sjM2
Also I think it would be nice to have the text in Japanese, but that may be just me.

If I turned the symbols into Energy cards, I'd make my own background similar to, but not exactly like the examples you posted. I was never a fan of those Energies, anyway!
Not sure if I could make the text Japanese, though. The font is really only good for Roman characters...and plus, to the best of my knowledge, the Japanese cards use "ENERGY."

I think "ENERGY" is actually used in every language, but it may look more futuristic (like in Matrix) with Japanese text. You could maybe also use some Matrix-like lines of text as a background...

I can't help but feel like they would need some differences in background and overall style to the Base-Neo era Energy cards I usually make. Thoughts?

The four bottom types? Nope, because I haven't thought about it. By request, I took the most requested "fan-types" and merely made symbols for them. They aren't types that I necessarily agree could/would/should be added.

I'd imagine Nuclear to be a mix of Poison (mostly), with some Fire and Electric thrown in.

I like a lot of these ideas, but there's a huge hole in the "sound" type. Sound type means that the moves it does are all based on sound, like loud noises and stuff. However, a few pokemon have the soundproof ability, completely NULLIFYING the sound type.

ILKCMP In reply to DJHiryu508 [2014-02-06 01:21:02 +0000 UTC]
I'm not going to heavily debate types with you, mostly because I threw those in because I was asked (and aren't necessarily types I agree with).
However, there's a huge hole in your logic: if Sound-type were real, Soundproof WOULD render Pokémon with the ability immune. However, it would be the same idea as Levitate (nullifying Ground-type). Other similar abilities (but with additional effects) include Flash Fire (nullifying Fire-type attack damage), Lightningrod and Motor Drive (nullifying Electric-type attack damage), Sap Sipper (nullifying Grass-type attack damage), and Storm Drain (nullifying Water-type attack damage). I'd say that Soundproof nullifying a theoretical Sound-type attack would make sense given the other similar abilities...

If I were to do a Pokemon game of some sorts, I'd use these exact same types, only rebranding Cyber Pokemon as Abnormal Pokemon.

I wholey agree with the new types. However, what do you mean by 'Cyber'? Robotic created by humans or, not robotic but created by humans using DNAs the way Mewtwo was created? What do you think about an unknown type? One that cannot be figured out by the Pokemon researchers? This could be Pokemon from other planets or life. I know you've got Cosmic there, but that applies more for Pokemon that live in space.

ILKCMP In reply to CJM-Collexionz [2013-12-23 01:35:50 +0000 UTC]
Honestly, the main reason the additional types were included was due to the high demand. I've not really done any research into the logistics behind any of the types, though I'd imagine "Cyber" to be analogous to "Digital," or inorganic Pokémon. The symbol itself is a set of 0s and 1s, representing binary code used in computers.
I don't think an Unknown-type would work very well, as the 18 existing types cover Pokémon (and Fakemon) well enough; Normal-types (or Psychic-types, i.e. Deoxys) seem to fit the bill for Pokémon that come from "other planets or life," as those types act as a pretty good catch-all for randomness.
