Description Using multi million pound aircraft to paint with light. For every flash of its strobes another star is added to the nights skies.
Shot from Gravelly point park just off of Ronald Reagan airport Virginia.

*Edit*
I toned down a star on the top right that was drawing the eye from the subject on the suggestion of Brit31 .
Here is another shot taken a few feet from here on the same night:

One of the most striking things about this photograph is the unique convergence of lines. One pair, that of a skyline on one side of the picture and the airport's façade on the other, converge on the far horizon in a V-shape that keeps the horizon line from being a static straight line across the composition. The second pair of converging lines are not solid structures, but lines of light, one in the sky and the other, a reflection of the upper lines. This interplay draws the viewer into the picture.
Night photography is difficult. This particular photograph, in capturing just the two skylines and the two lines of light, illuminates what is important while allowing a velvety darkness to shroud all the rest.
All in all, this is a striking scene.

Of the pair of these I prefer the other image 'doing the circuit' (pictured below) but this one came out great too.
I liked the somewhat uncomfortable green light that the broken flood light was spilling onto the pier in this image. It adds colour where there aught not to be any but can equaly be interpreted as playful as it does uneasy. What you say about the converging light is also quite true. It is easy for thing like this to work the wrong way but I think this does draw you in, inviting you to explore the darker parts of this image. Thank you for your critique

Cheers.
I can't find the exact video that gave me this idea but it was shot at LAX.
This one gives you the idea (and is quite possibly better)Β www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgEDSD…

It is pretty cool. I have wanted to to light trails at an airport for a while and this is a fantastic location for it. I'm very pleased I got to go there

I like this shot very much. Well composed and the reflections are lovely. Just a personal opinion is that the star (?)Β at top right drew my eye slightly but it doesn't detract from a great picture.

I see what you mean. I Β might tone it back a bit so it is less of a draw to the eye and more of a reward for exploring.
Cheers for the heads up.

No probs - just my impression. You know how subjective photography is!

No I think you are right. I didn't spot it myself but this was rushed out a bit, I should have hung on for a night but I got excited lol.
