Have you ever drawn a picture of your OC, and someone, or actually quite a few think that it's you when it isn't? Even when it remotely doesn't even look like you.Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. Sure you can have a name based on your character, but it doesn't necessarily mean that you're your own OC. Now don't go and tell me to change my user name just because it's based of my own character. That's inane. I think it's kinda tedious to have to tell people that I'm not my OC when I'm clearly not. Especially if I don't draw persona's.

Closed the comments because too many people are asking for evaluations of their characters being them or not. You either are your character or you're not. Stop asking me, only you know the answer to that.

I just draw myself and store those pics in a "Me" gallery folder to avoid confusion.

Oh man, do I hate that. I get that a lot and it's always irritating. I draw a character with blond hair... "is that you?" I draw a character with piercings... "is that you?" I create a character that enjoys art (or anything I enjoy)... "is that you?"
Sometimes I just want to respond with: "Yes... yes it's me. Cuz' you know I'm the only person in the world with blond hair and piercings, who enjoys art..."

YES. THIS SO MUCH. Even though I'm named "Chaletica" and have an OC with the very same name and use her as an avatar, she's not meant as my fursona or something(mostly, I used that as a name because I suck at making up usernames) Sure, she has SOME similar traits as me, but the way I see it, most of my characters do, more or less. (Actually, my character Derana was the one originally meant as my sona which is why I based her looks a bit on me, but since then she's grown away from that and more into her own character but that's another story) I do sometimes use her as an "avatar" of sorts at other sites I use this name, but I see this as no different than your forum avatar. If I were to draw "me", I'd draw myself. In my "real", human form.

People tend to relate to whatever your avatar is to yourself regardless of what it consists of. The main thing is the OC thing which I have the same issue with. I think it's more frequent if your username is your oc's name too which I have as well so it will be stapled as myself by some unknowing onlookers.

I myself have an Irksona just so I can make fun of myself/draw vent art, so in every picture I draw with my Irksona, something happens.

Oy! I know what that's like. I Actually misinterpreted your boyfriend for being his irksona but I completely mixed the OC and the Irksona up together since they both look strikingly similar. P:

Yeah, that's the thing that gives it away, the very humanistic clothing is a real key to point it out. Raf the OC uniform is the actual OC. XD Yes.
Oh yes. I personally never draw Irksonas so I guess making poking fun at it in a humorous way is a good way to deal with it.

This happens to me a lot irl -__- I go to show a picture I drew to my family, and if it's a girl, they think I drew myself O_O
(they also mistook most of my male charas for girls, but that's another story xD )

Aw dang, I'm sorry about that. Yeah, it happened to me too irl. I noticed it happens more irl than online since people just don't seem to know as much as people online.
Mistaking male characters for girls is pretty common, a lot of people make guy characters with girly features so it's hard to tell. If you don't give em eyelashes, that should be a dead giveaway. P:

It hasn't happened to me on DA yet, but some people IRL are convinced that one of my characters is my persona.

This stamps is so me because my characters are as further away from me as they come. I mean... I'm female and my major ones are male 
Mind you, why should a character have to be exactly like you anyway? Part of the fun is imagining outside the box.

XD Skoo is an actual LEGIT Jhonen made character, all which I simply spruced up. People associate him to me, and even mistake me as a male because of him... yet I'm quite feminine and, like you, don't take an Irksona.
I think it's awkward in my opinion, cause I see Irksona's sometimes and just go "Whhhyyy?". I don't wish I was my characters, or had anything of theirs. I like who I am.
Some friends call me Scoo to fuse my screen name together and avoid calling me Skoo... my chosen main character.

Fun fact: My name is based off of an obsolete version of an OC that has since been changed into a character of different age, gender, race, and plot significance. Not to mention name. So, the original version of Ink to be short, if you can believe that.

Yeah, the original name was "Spooky" Bishop. There's a lot of iterations that the Misfits narrative has gone through. I've had all kinds of different team make-ups and names and genders for these characters.
Another fun fact: Ghostyface was actually made by Mike, who works on Talkies with me. He had the idea for a crazy hobo who thinks he's a superhero. I changed it from a superhero who happens to be a crazy hobo.
