Here it is! Veri's new design and lore! Wowee!
EDIT: old background/backstory info redacted, as it has since become stale :V
Supplemental material! Whow!
Quad/feral ref
Outfit(s) ref (coming... soon! ish.)
A complementary outfit ref will also be made for Veri; I just chose not to include anything more than his default casual getup (which is just his disguise + muzzle helmet) since it would clog up what is an already very big ref (plus, I'm a little intimidated by potentially needing to design fullbody plate armor for him ;D; )
This ref is possibly one of the most thorough that I've ever made, although Nimbus's new ref will be... quite comparable :V
Making BIG refs like this takes quite a while; I spent more than a week working on this a little bit each day.
(the PSD is a colossal 54.9 MB)
Golly has Veri come a long way since being a fancharacter for a game I've never even played :V
He's even had, like, the most temp names out of any character I've ever made. He'd been variously called Adeln, Veredeln/Verde, Verapax, Venipax, and many other names you've never heard because I don't normally post my writings, let alone the giant text files I make whilst brainstorming names :V
(I hope he doesn't look too much like a Heartless?? I might change his eye color if he does, since that'd kind of be the main culprit)
I learned so much whilst designing Veri's primary weapon; initially I went with a 'halberd', but then in my researching what a proper halberd looked like, I realized that what I'd been drawing actually looks a little more like a poleaxe. Then I found out that halberds are more of a group weapon, and that a poleaxe would actually make for a better solo weapon than a halberd. Poleaxes are especially good against armored foes, as that was the main advantage of using a poleaxe- they were actually great for fighting dudes in plate armor. WHICH makes a lot of sense for Veri to want to be good at, since his setting is kind of vaguely pre-industrial revolution/widespread firearm use, making plate still pretty popular (ESPECIALLY in the beast-baiting pits Veri grew up forced to fight in). Plus, it was always kind of Veri's thing that he goes for the eyes, so any weapon for him would need a long stabby bit that's thin enough to get into the eyehole of someone's armor- which poleaxes were kind of designed to do :V (aside from, that is, bludgeoning dudes in armor with the hammer end)
NOTE: below ramble applies only to old, redacted background info :V
(you might be asking, but Inc, how can the setting be pre-industrial if there are Reality Pulverizers and spacecraft? Why, because the reason it's pre-industrial is because it's post-post apocalypse, and the Pulverizer had a lot to do with that. Veri wasn't born when the Pulverizer 'melted down'; his progenitor(s) were attracted to the site long after the event. As for the spacefraft, well I'm actually unsure whether I want there to be other more advanced civilizations in the 'neighborhood' that have simply agreed to not to mess around with Veri's planet, or if there's a little bit of budding sequence-breaking magic-powered space travel going on.)
