Petition for streaming Cyborg 009 on American websites . This is American only because they block them from other countries. Petition for releasing Cyborg 009 on DVD . I know several of you have merchandise you import or get someway from America, where ever this DVD is released, I must ask you to do that again.===END EDIT
Well, this is part of my answer to the question of the week over at Anime News Network . The question is:
"What old series/movie are you interested in that the new crop of fans is completely uninterested in? Why do you think that is? What steps would you take to reverse it."

Well, I don't think I need to tell you what series I enjoy XD
Seriously, this show had a prime place to gain a following, the Toonami block on weekdays in the 2000's was THE PLACE for animation. But, it didn't garner enough favor to appease the rating gods and it was banished to like 4:30am. What is more disheartening is the series never ran its course in broadcast, missing the last 4 episodes, and we cannot even view it through other means like a streaming site or DVDs.
It just makes me sad.
I wish, I could petition streaming sites to run the series in full, that would be a dream, though, I am unsure how to go about doing that.

I tried watching the video however possible way I could, but all of the videos linked to YouTube are said to be private and I can't view them. Sucks for me that I couldn't catch on fast enough T-T I'm really hoping it gets licensed in the states for an English dubbed release. I'd totally support the film in hopes of getting the series on DVD. A little too optimistic, but worth a shot

Just finished watching the trailer. And my gosh... I REALLY can't wait to see this movie. And since Production I.G. is at the helm for developing this movie, that completely reassures me this movie will be amazing. Although it took me some time to get used to the new more realistic art style, I can still see it's the same Cyborg 009 I fell in love with even though it doesn't have that original Ishinamori feel that inspired my work
And the CG is just lovely. I enjoyed Appleseed, so I'm definitely gonna get a kick out of this when more clips surface. Definitely can't wait to watch this and the new Berserk movie

I know, right? I showed the trailer to a couple of my friends and didn't like the new art style or the CG. At least they're willing to give it a chance. Or at least one of them <.<;

I wound up buying all but the last episode on DVD from Japan, but the subs are horrible.
At least I can watch it, though...at least...and I can understand what they're saying, even if the subs can get confusing sometimes.
I'm planning ripping them eventually, cleaning them up, and submitting them (minus subs) to various fansub groups (fans would do a better job of translating than the original people, sadly). The veeeeeeery last episode is still outside my grasp, though...it was apparently never aired, even in Japan, and had a straight to DVD release. I managed to find the DVD containing it, but it costs $75...and that's before international shipping.

r-r-really?! that would be... amazing!!! Yeah, the folks who did the subs on the foreign disks are not native english, and Sony used dubtitles to do the few DVDs they made :/
hmmm, other folks own that DVD, I wonder if they have it.... I *think* =kuroi-nekko-chan has it. She actually has been working and made better subs of episode 49 and 50. you can see them on her youtube channel! :3

Yeah I watched it when I was a kid then I bought the 8 episode dvd set a few years back after finding it at a clothing shop but it wasn't until recently that I've had a computer of my own. Which allowed me to be able to seek out the rest of the episodes. ^.^
I really cant wait for more information on the film, it looks very interesting.

actually I would say 002, 004, and 009 are the fan base's favorite characters in general. Though my top 3 is 002, 004, and 007. 009 is bumped to #4. X'3 I do love all the characters, so it's not much of a distinction. Who are your favorites?
