Took the afternoon to myself to finish off this little piece...it's been sitting on my computer unfinished for YEARS!
Many Asian cultures feature the rabbit in the moon, and also fox spirits. I've always thought that rabbit must drive the fox spirits CRAZY.
Originally, it had no blossoms, but after attending the Sakura Matsuri, there needed to be cherry blossoms.

lol I doubt that it will happen anytime soon, considering that I can't really draw at the moment.
I always wanted to create some illustrated short stories, so maybe that'll happen. No way of telling right now.

Actually, I think the blossoms are the one part I don't like about this. Maybe if the lines around them were softer it would help. Everything is just so subtle in terms of line quality that the thick lines in condensed spaces really sticks out.

There's just something really serene about this~ I really love the way you drew out the fox spirits; they seem to blend into the background, but in a good way! And the gradients in the background are absolutely wonderful!

This is an amazing idea, and I LOVE the shape of the rabbit in the moon. I've not seen a representation like that before, although I know of the story.
I also love the pallet of colours you've used on this piece. They're quite cold colours, but the piece doesn't feel cold.

Oh, it's TOTALLY inaccurate and has NOTHING to do with the shadows on the moon that are supposed to be the rabbit with the mortar and pestle.
