I'm never going to forget how much I didn't like Varias when I first made him, but then he unexpectedly grew both as a character and just on me in general afterwards... pensivefist discord emoji....

We all already know I have a massive bias for this dumb hot mess of a son haha, so it's prob no surprise how absolutely thRILLED I am that he finally has a shiny new reference that won't make me cry everytime I send it off for commissions and trades djjdf.. |D;; IT'S ALL OVER FOR YOU NOW, I'm so ready to pick up more art of him haha- ( •̀ヮ•́ )و

I'd planned on making a reference sheet for his alternate form as well but- once I thought it over, I got progressively lazier about it because it'd just be coloured solid black.. so... what's the point JDJFDF

brief history summary:
Varias' race, the Kvethar, are the oldest race in this world. Handcrafted by the gods themselves, they were given the task of educating the surface races that eventually evolved from more basic life forms. However, the actions of some of his kind ultimately upset the gods' plan, so as a result, the Kvethar race has been punished with the destruction of the magic that they need to live. Falling birth rates are slowly but steadily decimating their population.. but the leaders of Kvethran society are exceedingly stubborn and refuse to acknowledge past wrongs. Opting instead to hide their failings and spreading propaganda with the sole purpose of diverting their population's attention from their current situation, the Council continues to grasp onto the last strings of their existence as if nothing is wrong.

Varias is an individual from the second-to-last Kvethar generation... and he is less than impressed with the state of things- especially once he'd discovered the truth. Knowing full well that there was nothing to be done to save his race, he instead decided to let them eventually die in their stubbornness, and desires to make the most of his life until then. Leaving Kvethran society is an instant sentence for social exile, publicly.. in secret, he's now condemned to death by the Council for defying their rules. Varias now lives on the surface world, and doesn't give a damn about having a price on his head because he knows they can't touch him.. especially now that he's surrounded himself with a crew that's loyal to the death. He leads a mercenary company and is often seen as an arrogant show-off to outsiders, but those close to him admire his charismatic and lively nature.. and those even closer are very familiar with his generosity.

I don't think I really have much else to say about this since nothing's really changed about him.. just some minor adjustments haha. :">
