Description Nearly done with this, but I'm still deciding if I want to include the shirt pattern and tattoo on the calf... pretty sure I do, but scanning a version at this stage allows me to preserve a version without those elements. I'm also not sure if I want to try and pencil in those other gears by hand... it's sorta past the point of adding guides, and I'd be able to do more accurate circles digitally, but in the meantime... meh. I can tell they're off, at least.

There's been a bunch of changes to her anatomy, mostly in the form of bringing things in a bit, and a lot of detail added since the initial sketch. The version to the left is merely greyscaled, all of the light grey in that drawing is actually in red pencil, while the version on the right is the "clean" version, with the red stripped out. Setting them side-by-side allows me to see where I need to add weight and detail, which I'll probably do later tonight.

Any idea to make a dvd of teatching techniques?
I try to find a cool xmas present to offer.

I prefert to compare the single rough squetch with the final piece, the leg part really improve on this one (in a relaxed pose the feet make 90° with the leg if i catch the thing).

I suppose the head part is the hardest to draw here.
you make it great

Not just nice work (which it is), but it's fascinating seeing how you move through the pencil-inking process, and reading your notes. Thanks!

I am... that's the sad part. The old me would be like "can I have a high res version of this" and then I'd go to town on the colors right then and there. But more then likely I'll have to save it for when I have free time. and even still now a days I prefer to doodle more in my free time to improve on my own pencils.

Which, all things considered, is probably better for you anyhow.

I'll get a proper scan of this done after my computer's back up and working, and we can talk about it then.

Sweet... But I do say that I would get rid of the pattern on the shirt. It draws a lot of attention (which by her size isn't needed. )
But I do like the calf tattoo. Makes you think what else she has.

And yes, how do you keep your lines to crisp? Do you mess with the levels in photoshop, or are they just that crisp from you cleaning them up manually????

Cool job either way.

I do a little levels adjustment in Photoshop to increase contrast, but not much. It's easier to stay clean when you work in red.

Appreciated... I know how clean you keep your own lines.

Are you using red, or just sketching lightly, or working clean to start?

i dun use red.. or the blue..

I used to work with 6H leads, but I like the red better because it's easier to completely removie from the pencils than light pencil was... I feel a lot more flexible with my roughs and able to make more changes without concern that it'll mess up the finals.
