Bug was one of the first attempts by Marvel to make the characters distinct from the toys. Which was good, because the little spacemen tended to be indistinguishable, by design or circumstance. I liked Bug, he was an agile and tough hero who was not afraid to take on the bad guys.

Might be something to that, although I don't remember being able to make that connection back then. I didn't get into X-Men until junior high, which was a couple of years past my childhood interaction with Micronauts.

i had a dozen or so Warlord issues it was written quite well it still holds up when you read em today. by the way speaking of Bug from the Micronauts . . .

Warlord is about an airforce SR-71 pilot, Travis Morgan, who parachutes through a portal after his plane is shot down by the Russians. The portal leads Skataris a magical realm situated at the Earth's core where the core is a mini sun that supports the rest of the earth around it. He fights dinosaurs and wizards who dominate the land, and tries to bring American ideals like Freedom of Speech and Individual Liberty to the inhabitants. The ideals appeal to the citizens so much, they follow him as their Warlod.

Yes, that's accurate, though always had a wonderful tinge of weirdness. His arch enemy Deimos became half dog as Morgan threw his dead dog in with the wizard's body in the grave. He then was killed by Morgan again, then came back as a disembodied head that walked around with his attached hand. Then he died again, become a skull encased in a body made of pottery and animated by the blood of his followers... XD

He was in Annihilation Conquest, and then became a member of the second roster *not counting the original future ones*, and was one of the characters that just sort of left when the team was restructured to just be the movie cast in the comic.
