Thanks, I will definitely pass that on to her. The amazing this is that the work I posted of hers is just doodles she did on the back of envelopes, in her journal, or in letters to me. He real work is much better. She also works in stone sculptures.

Thanks. I will pass on your comment to my sister. I post some of her work in that folder. She is an amazingly good nature artist, working in stone, oils, watercolor, pencil, ink, etching, and so on. Unfortunately I ran out of time to post my own work, let alone hers. SO much to do, so little time.

Thank you, I know she will really appreciate your comment, which I will pass on to her. Frankly, we have a better scan of it, but I have not had the time to put it up yet.
She does really wonderful stone sculptures. When we get out new camera figured out, I should photograph the one she gave me (seal). To me, sculpture is a bit magical, to be able to see a form in a chunk of rock, and make it come to life.

I have to wait on "He who must be obeyed," LOL, since I shake too much to shoot anymore. He is pretty busy. Hopefully you will see one within the next couple of months.
Take Care...

And, also, I understand what causes you to appreciate her work from memory. I just wrote a psych midterm about memory. (:

What is amazing to me is that she saw a scene like this and later drew it in her diary from memory. She draws habitats realistically, with holes in leaves, etc.

I wish i could do that but my visual memory is too short.
Legend says Gustav DorΓ© was able to draw wonderful portraits from memory.

I have no visual memory at all. I close my eyes and I will not be able to an image of what I just looked at. I cannot even close my eyes and see the face of my partner of almost 19 years, even if I had just stared at him. Drawing was always a challenge, especially from a live model. It is one of my brain disorders. We do the best with what we have.

I wouldn't call it a disorder, just the way you are, nobody's got all the skills and talents that he/she would like to be born with.
Not all artists are the same, some of them are likelier to draw from life, others from memory and even from imagination, and others try to find the balance in an intermediate point.

Actually, I have something called Autism Spectrum Disorders, which are disorders of the brain. The right and left sides of the brain do not talk to each other very well. You can Google "Autism" to learn more. I am a High Function Autistic. But what you say is true. We learn to work with our talent, and work around problems.

I believe you, even i personally dislike most of these categories created to "class" people, perhaps searching for a feeling of comfort in front of natural diversity in a time when everything is supposed to be scientifically analyzed and coldly arranged; i know there are some cases were some uncommon behaviour may be considered some kind of "disorder" or "deviation" but simply having a different way of connecting ideas or expressing feelings is (generally speaking) nothing but your "personal touch" in my modest opinion.

For the many different brain disorders, the diagnosis it very important as early as possible, because then children can get the special training, therapy, and skills to be able to function fully in school, and socially. I was failed in 1'st grade and was to be put in a special school for the mentally retarded, where I would have received no education, being classified as "Unable To Learn," or "Learning Disabled."
In my case, my two eyes would not track together, so I could not read or write.
My parents did not believe them and borrowed money to have me checked by a special doctor, who found the problems. Back around 1960, little was know compared to now, so I did not get much help. But the physical therapy was able to get my eyes working correctly, and I then did very well in school, and was able to skip the 3'rd grade.
In High School, I was given an "Intelligence Test" and they said I was Stupid and less intelligent than almost everyone else. But I was doing very well in school. My parents and I were told not to bother sending me to University. I went anyway, and graduated number 1 in the Academy, in Engineering.
While diagnosis is very important to get proper help, after that classifications (categories) can cause terrible damage. Kids get told they are stupid when they are not, and many may believe what they are told, and never fulfill their potential.
Some boys and girls learn better in different ways, but the system does not allow that. Also, if you do not take multiple-choice tests well, you will not get to excel, even if you are a genius in other ways. Some people are very good at taking tests, but are not very smart, or are unable to use their knowledge, or unable to solve real-world problems. Standard tests determine almost everything for a child's future, but they basically discard many children by categorizing them wrongly.
But, as you know, everyone must fit in a category. Humanity insists on it. People wish to control and organize the naturally chaotic world. Then people add value judgment to their categories. People who look like "..." are not as good people. People who believe "..." are bad, but if you believe what I believe, you must be good.
I doubt it will ever change.

I sent your comment to my sister and she is most grateful of your comment. Cathleen took a long trip from Seattle, WA, down through the Panama Canal and over to the U.S Virgin Islands, where I came to meet her. She would see sea life, insects, mammals, reptiles and habitats, then jot them down in her diary. She would also send me letters and there would be watercolors on the envelopes, which I saved. I hope to post more soon.
I am temporarily swamped, catching up on sleep, and not intentionally neglecting my favorite artist.

I have a killer headache behind the right eye. The last 5 days or so have been really bad pain wise, so it has been really hard sitting and typing, besides constantly loosing focus. Oh well, it will get better soon, no doubt.
I was washing my pussy the other day and things got a bit out of control. But she is all soft and fluffy now, and I look like I have been in a cat fight. Pussy washing is not for the faint of heart. I hope all is well and that time is healing the bf...
Hugs

This little doddle looks more like a real artist piece. The leaves are beautiful and she had an great eye for the right shading and light.
Also the bough of the tree looks amazing and very stunning.

Sorry for the delay, I thought I answered this already. Senility...Where was I? XD
I sent this to my sister and she asked me to Thank You. All of my time keeps going into commentsβits an addictionβand there is no time to post out work. She has a ton of great stuff. Her large major works are all too big to scan, so what do you do then? It seems a photo would not do it justice.

So you really apprechiate every comment and thats what count the most. Well, I really like her picture - so why not liking it and writing that to the artist?
I'm an artist too and I always love to get some more or less respect for my work I mostly spent a lot time on doing it.
And a photo of a masterpiece really destroys pure emotions.
I hopefully get to see more of her lovely work.

I still need to look through your gallery more. I have had a hard last 4 days, pain wise, and have fallen way behind in everything.
If you send a reply back to this, it will be my reminder. Narcotics totally screw with memory, and befuddle the mind. Such is life. Thanks.

Oh no, I am very sorry for didn't replying. I was totally out of thoughts, my school's taking much attention of me lately and I can't miss a thing of my other internet stuff, too. It's pretty sad to be addicted to the online life more than the real life.
My gallery is not that special, I only manipulate pictures of my favourite artists and that's it. And they are not even as good as they should.
But I do have a less talent in drawing. Childish ones mostly, lol.
Hope you're feeling better actually!

Manipulating pictures can be artistic. I do not look down my nose at those who find other ways to express their creativity.
Your drawing style is young, but it is improving. It is hard for me to know for sure about your drawings, because I am not sure the posted scan of your original work, actually matches your original drawings well. But I am guessing it looks better, in terms of more contrast, lightness/darkness, sharpness, etc.
I am guessing that the horse drawing is very good. If you have Photoshop or another image editing program, it is easy to correct the scans.
I do not know if you can buy Photoshop Elements where you live. In America you can buy it for cheap US$60. Elements has everything of full photoshop that you would ever need.

This doodle happens to be extremely close to a masterpiece. Your sister is extremely gifted and i love the detail placed in the branches and leaves. She made the entire scene lifelike as opposed to just focusing on the bird. Her doing that made ( for me ) the whole drawing absolutely wonderful. Instead of just focusing on the bird, I am able to enjoy the bug holes in the leaves or the broken end of a twig.
I have an older sister myself, and am curious as to how you were able to gain access to the diary.

Cathleen is an observer of nature, and from a young age has had a keen interest in nature. We are very close. This diary was more of a graphic diary of her nature observations, at least the parts I was given to scan. I will pass your message on to her.
