The first time I heard about this show was on ROBLOX. When I scrolled down the catalog to look at some new items, I stumbled upon Star Butterfly’s Wand. I later looked up the show to know what this Disney animated TV show is and I didn’t gain any interest. It was just another one of ROBLOXs cheap promotions. However, because that I’ve seen numerous fanart of Star vs. the Forces of Evil, that’s when I began to watch all of their episodes.

Since my father sold my TV back in summer 2014, I haven’t seen any episodes or know anything about Star. All I knew is Star Butterfly and that’s it. When I started watching this show, that’s when I begin to know stuff about the universe among Star.

So, out of all of the entertaining episodes, I’ve seen, what are my final thoughts? Actually, this show felt better than Total Drama until Season 4 made the latter almost better. From what you’ve just seen from the pie chart, there used to be more than 5 episodes I don’t recommend (The Other Exchange Student and The Bogbeast of Boggabah to name a few), but then Season 4 arrived and the number quadrupled to around 20. That season ended up providing much of the worst episodes of the series with the worst one going as low as a heinous. However, most episode ratings are common in the first three seasons with there being a lot of great episodes.

The characterization is the strongest aspect of the entire show. The portrayal of the characters within each episode is done well, showing how relatable and interesting they can get throughout the episode. The one-timers feel creative and interesting (Gustav being one of the very few exceptions), either if the guest star did a great job or the writers exceptionally gave them depth that makes them feel loveable and relatable. As for the ships, they were done MUCH better than the ships in The Loud House and a few Total Drama episodes. While The Loud House barely did anything to make the ship really true, this show attempted to give better character development to Marco Diaz, to make him feel like he’s not generic.

Even the writing isn’t far behind. Any story they tell here is original, creative, and entertaining as the episode progresses. What especially makes the writing great is how it mostly focuses on the characterization. Characters bonding is what makes an episode feel special, yet this show’s bonding isn’t jerky or annoying, but fairly funny and engaging instead. Even though there are a few generic episodes, I can’t admit how many interesting episodes made the show’s appeal progress over time.

I especially find the animation to be fairly good. It feels colorful, engaging, and not over the top like the flash-like animation style in The Loud House. Speaking of Flash-like animation, the character animation reminds me of that a bit, but the designs are what keeps the integrity of how energetic and awesome the animation feels. The color schemes can sometimes be a bit off and Star’s eyes overlap with her hair, but that’s probably intentional.

Star vs. the Forces of Evil was pretty consistent in greatness, even if it slowly dipped in quality. Unfortunately, it began to express its true low point in Season 4 where it just ruins the whole writing of the show. Not only did that season introduce obnoxious characters that just make me frustrated like Relicor, much of the townfolks, and that damn white monkey and derail characters like Rivers and Janna into pointless and immature ones, but never have I’ve seen the quality and directing of the writing step to THIS low from all over the place pacing that is too fast, many annoying moments, dumb conflicts, plot holes just to express how rushed many episodes in that season are, its urge to repeat what's going on in the episodes as if we're too stupid to comprehend the nature, and its choppy transition from Season 3. But, however, there’s still the animation to appreciate, but it's not enough to save how much of the season is a big waste of time.

Now then, since I’ve placed my thoughts on this show, I’ll state my summary: From its relatable and interesting characters, creative and engaging storytelling, and colorful animation, Star really feels magical only if its last season wasn’t convoluted and obnoxious. Anyways, my rating for Star vs. the Forces of Evil was Divine, but thanks to Season 4, it’s just ample (73%). I used to call this show great, but since it slowly dipped in quality and Season 4 just made it all worse, it’s now divine. Thank god this show has been put out of its misery so that I don't have to experience something like the fourth season again.
