Description Bunsen is a Beast is a cartoon that I've first seen when it first premiered on Nickelodeon. I've only seen the first 2 segments when it first premiered, but I had to focus on other shows like Avatar. It wouldn't be until March when I came back to this show for more episodes. However, during the first time I reviewed this cartoon, I didn't find half of the episodes on Kisscartoon (because at the time, the website forgot about that show). It wouldn't be until July 13, 2017 when they released all the episodes on their site and I finally got a chance to review the remaining episodes.2017 when they released all the episodes on their site and I finally got a chance to review the remaining episodes.Kisscartoon (because at the time, the website forgot about that show). From what I've seen from a Butch Hartman cartoon doesn't look like it has a lot of potential. I'm sorry for those who were trying to find people who like this show, but Bunsen is barely good. This show feels like it came out of Canada because of the writing, animation, and characters being all generic. Because of that, I can barely update this scorecard because I'm not in the mood of this show. Bunsen is like another The Fairly OddParents, or even a successor. The pie chart shown looks like a warning sign, with only 2 episodes I recommend and nearly 62.5% of the show being weak. The green slices is only a quarter of the pie chart, sadly. I fear that this show will be as bad as The Loud House, but phew. The episodes aren't as bad as Loud House episodes such as A Fair to Remember, Shell Shock, and Study Muffin, but too much of this show feels mediocre.

I'm sad that I've got to review something that looked like a Canadian cartoon, but I have to review it. Let's start with the writing:

First off, the premise is pretty bad. A show about a boy and his friend beast isn't anything interesting or anything to talk about because I know that the premise has been done in other shows or even episodes that are like bigfoot episodes (Sassy Come Home from Dexter's Laboratory for example). So yeah, the premise doesn't work because it feels pretty dull at first, but what did I've seen from its episodes. The show's first episode, the episode of the same name as this shows title, didn't have a moving plot until 7 MINUTES!! If the writers are too lazy to write a conflict for each episode, then I'd rather skip the episode. Anyways, how about the shows writing? It's awful. First of all, why does every episode have the same exact story? I know that every episode must feel like it belongs to this show and do something special with the repetition, but as for most of the episodes, they're all dull as a rock. Amanda should not appear in every episode just because she's the antagonist, try make an episode where she has a different trait or not show her at all if the episode has nothing to do with her. Also, the humor and feeling of this show is like The Fairly OddParents, except that the jokes are more intended for children, which is a problem because sometimes, they're not really that funny or it's too annoying because of the quality being too wacky. Something about ripping formulas from other shows is like what I've seen with Danny Phantom's animation. Even the structure is awful often because so far in most episodes, there's no climax or a setup, it just focuses to be funny (which I still forgive the writers for) or it craps repetition everywhere. I'm done with the writing because I can't talk more about it. Too incomprehensible and ridiculous where it almost decreased my IQ.

Man, I'm real dizzy from the writing, but the quality though...

...is leaning towards weak, but it's tolerable. I really like how it's colorful and vibrant like other Nick shows like SpongeBob SquarePants for example and while the movements can get to me, I think they're okay. But the case is that the quality is one major key that makes Bunsen is a Beast! a cartoon from Canada. Even though this cartoon is different from Butch Hartman's works, which I'm glad to see, they still given us the Canadian feeling of Bunsen. The character designs looks like copies from other Canadian cartoons and like the said cartoons, the designs are dull like Johnny Test's character designs. I think the only character design I like, or love because I'm very impressed with the looks, is Amanda Killman's menacing and creepy design. However, I dislike the voices of the characters because they can sound too wacky or feel like they were voiced by characters from other shows. Not only that, but the animation reminds me of Wayside's animation. But speaking of Wayside, this show and Wayside are alike because they failed to impress me with both the writing, animation, and characters that are the reasons why they're so unpopular. Even though there are some positives, the quality still feels like Canadian maple syrup.

Still not good? *sigh* I smell more Canadian breath from the characters:

Almost all of the characters are forgettable like other Canadian cartoon characters. We don't know anything about them aside from Bunsen and sometimes Amanda, thus making us one dimensional characters. The characters can either be dull like the writing or rips that looks like the original character took a portal to this shows dimension (Amanda Killman is extremely similar to Denzel Crocker). Heck, even a lot of the characters barely get development, like for example Mikey doesn't change at all like in every episode. There's nothing else to talk about the characters, but at least they're likable and relatable. Yeah, Butch Hartman will never get serious with a cartoon aside from Danny Phantom, and instead focus on his wacky world. This section is short because I'm overwhelmed of how generic Bunsen can get with everything.

Sadly, Bunsen is a Beast isn't my type of show that any of you could watch. The show feels like a greeting from Canada, with the awfully incomprehensible writing, mixed animation, and characters that are disguises of other characters from other shows while being forgettable to prove it. Of course I don't recommend this show at all, but if the other episodes can be better, then I could be wrong with the writing. I don't know, we'll see. But because that this show is weak (44%), I'll barely watch this show because of the reasons stated. Too much weak episodes to weigh this show down to being weak. It's a cartoon that looked like it reused the same idea over and over again. I'm happy that this show is still better than The Loud House, but this show could've been a lot worse.

What's your deal with Canada? Even you can admit that not all Canadian cartoons are boring.

whoops, forgot that too. I worked on updating this scorecard on 12:30 AM, which is the time that I felt sleepy and could forget things.

Agreed. I fricking hated Beast of Friends. It takes the worst qualities of each shows and it makes them.....worser.

Wow, I never thought you were gonna review this show again, but at least it's still the same level of weak.

At least the show got a bit better for you.

Anyway, I'm skipping this show. There's just no reason for me to buy into it.

I feel that this show is for a very specific population. It is so shallow and generic, still I feel it is far from the worst cartoons ever. I can see how some people would enjoy it. I think Butch Hartman came up with crazy idea so he could have a replacement for Fairly Odd Parents. I hope it does well enough for Butch's sake (as in gives him time to come up with something better). Nickelodeon just really needs to come up with and promote more variety. Focusing on mainly SpongeBob and not giving other shows adequate support really crippled them. Still this show has opportunity to improve and I would suggest more depth for characters, less stereotypes, better jokes, and plots with pace.

Glad Im not only one to think about that Bunsen feels like a Canadian cartoon. But then again, the animation is done in Flash. but here's one interesting note about it: the animation is done at Elliott Animation Inc. the same company that worked on the Total Drama series. It looks better than FOP when it's Flash animated imo

At least The Loud House was able to get a great for its first episode, the highest this show has gotten is alright and knowing the season isn't close to finishing I think it is soon to say if it won't get any worse.
