Description
The only free work I'll do is for book pitches. It's a good gamble, if the pitch is successful then I'll have an entire book to illustrate. This was for a pitch, although it hasn't found a publisher yet. The book is about retro toys and this one was the Big Trak from the late 70s - early 80s. A computerized vehicle you could program to slowly wheel around the house.
This was done in Adobe Illustrator in an Opie style.

OH MY FRIGGIN GOD! I used to have one of those. It was the coolest thing ever right next to my Stretch Armstrong! That is too cool.

good work.. but I think it isn't that thing people expect as an cover for a book. for interior full page picture maybe nice.. but publishers would prefer photos for full color print pages in books like you mentioned.. just your drawing as a B&W version would be more successful maybe?

Yup, My brother has one, Probably still works. I am curious now There was a dump truck type accessory that you could plug into its back and a light pretending to be a laser you could program to fire so many times at each stage. I remember vividly trying to program it to do something simple and slight miscalculations add up. It gives a good hint at how hard it was to program pathfinder and Opportunity to rome mars from several light minutes away.

Great piece. My cousin had one of those Big Traks. I was always jealous when I saw it, always wanted one.
