Imagine you're on board of the S.S. Anne, travelling close to the Galar Region, when suddenly a giant, dynamaxed Tentacruel emerges from the sea and starts attacking the ship. Not a very pleasant way to spend the vacations I guess.
I planned doing this drawing for quite awhile, I made a sketch first but I wasn't very satisfied with it so I started all over again so that's why it took a long time to complete it. I used the S.S. Anne from Let's Go as a reference, and a 3D model that was available to see on Sketchfab sketchfab.com/3d-models/pokemo… was very helpful in order to draw it. This is my first time in doing a stormy sea so it's not perfect but I hope to get better with that. ^^
So yeah, I know Tentacool and Tentacruel aren't part of Galar's pokedex but I'm hoping they get their chance at the upcoming DLC. And besides, this could be considered a callback to that episode of the very first season of the anime, which showed us a giant Pokemon long before Dynamax became a thing, so there's that too. Tentacruel is a neat Pokemon, nuff said ^^
Also, this is not only inspired by the anime episode but also by two movies with a scenario similar to this one. Can you guess which movies are? (hint: both films are based on books)

This definitely looks like a cross between the Pokémon anime episodes "Battle Aboard The St. Anne" and "Tentacool And Tentacruel"!

from using the SS Anne model to make the ship more precise, to the cool shades of reds and purples around the whole scene making it super dramatic cool Boss like moment while dynamaxing, the cool brights reflected in the water and the great choice of making the SS Anne having its lights on giving it that extra bit of cool color mix of the reds purples blues and yellows
Just absolutely stellar stuff my dude, I can tell you put a lot o effort to make it epic and it certainly is!
Also its pretty fun to think all these years later the anime tentacruel was a dynamax pokemon, they never forget :0

Ahh thank you so much! After playing on lots of raids, I felt the need to do more Dynamax pieces since I love how the fights look in the game. And yes, I wanted this to have the feeling of a boss fight, kind of like in Zelda: Wind Waker, where you can encounter with a giant Octorok in the middle of the ocean and fight it. Hopefully this SS Anne trip has some trainers on board ready to take down that Tentacruel.

I was really surprised how much fun raids in the game were considering they didnt actually look that appealing when they were first announced, so Im relaly glad my opinion changed so quickly, plus with others tagging along it certainly helped! <3
I havent played Wind Waker unfortunately, but I totally understand what you mean, I personally have always had a fear of water in video games, so if some crap showed up like this Id shit myself as much as I did with the giant eel in Mario 64 lmao

And water is the most feared element in video games lol, they're either hard or stressful levels, like the Water Temple from Ocarina of Time, which is famous due to its layout or the floaty stages in Megaman with lots of one hit kill spikes everywhere. AND THAT FUCKIN EEL DAMN, that thing gave me nightmares in Mario 64, even more than the evil piano lmao.
