Description
After making my first set of Fimo teeth for a possible Viral costume I may make in the future I thought I would put together a tutorial for anyone else looking to try their hand at it.*EDIT*
commented below with a tip that may come in handy if the color ends up unnaturally white.
"i have a little tip for anyone reading this, to give your teeth that realistic look ad a tiny (AND I MEAN TINY) amount of tan clay, yellow, and an even smaller amount of black, it looks really good, i have tried something similair to this where i made single teeth and matched them to my teeth shade..."

Its not recommended to injest fimo but the main ingredient that had people the most concerned was removed early last year. Also keep in mind fimo is marketed as a children's toy and it should be assumed that with how much kids jam things in their mouth that its bound to happen.
The way the final piece should end up will give you the ability to slide them on over your teeth and pop them back out. I plan on popping them in for photos and then sliding them off the rest of the time myself.

That looks very useful. I had the same sort of thought as TerroristFlower (that it might be unhealthy) but I'm glad to hear that they've removed the ingredient concerned. Thank you for sharing!

Glad I could help and yea really glad it was removed. Still with the fit that the teeth have after you're done they will be able to slide on and off so you can just pop them in for pictures.

My and Shin-kun's "Battle Angel Alita" costumes (one day). I have to get in shape for mine (Alita) and his (Sechs) will be a lot of money. His character also has sharp teeth, so I've been looking into ways to do that

a dangerous thing to do. havent you thought about the clay being toxic and what could happen if you accidently swallow it?

Thanks for your concern, but before making my own set of teeth I looked into any type of hazards. In the end I found plenty of information stating that it was categorized as a children's toy and like all other toys are looked at much more critically than other products. That being said when most toys and products of that nature are sent in for approval one of the things looked into is a possibility of the child ingesting it in one form or another. If it was as dangerous as you're suggesting there would be no possible way it would be marketed in the way it is for as long as it has.
Also the main component of the clay that had people concerned about its use with children was phthalate which as of last year had been removed due to tighter restrictions through out Europe and the US.

Still I'm not all suggesting taking a bite out of the closest piece of clay to you.

*nod nod* It was the news release that was the final straw since my other option was to spend alot more than I was willing to for one set of teeth I planned on wearing once or twice.

Thanks, yea with the amount of clay used to make it its really worth trying if you have some spare translucent clay floating around. Since its what I end up using most that why I actually tried it out.

I was just browsing DA tuts and came across this. I just want to say your directions are clear and concise, easy enough for anyone to follow.

Thanks, this is probably the 3rd or 4th tutorial I've tried to put together but since I'm terrible with getting photos of every step of the process I always end up having to either start over or just say "screw it".
Also I think the giving myself such a small box to type the descriptions in helped with keeping it simple.

I'm like that with mine. BUt I have the screenshot thing but always forget to take a picture.
I've seen a lot of tutorials that don't describe it well. You do that.

Yea pesky taking pictures, I'd be tempted to video tape the process but then it'd be weeding through however long just to get screen grabs.

Wow, that's pretty amazing, you could really do some cool stuff with that. I wonder if you could put a non-toxic glaze on it to give it a shine.

You could probably use a high grit sandpaper to smooth it out. Not sure how the normal glazes for ceramics would work on fimo tho.
