Description
Hello, there. I'm tired. This is page 4 of my kids book "The Thing". It may be a bit hurried towards the end, but we're not going to let the publishers know that are we... Um, the colours remain unchanged from when I scanned it in cos i'm not bothered to change them into what they're meant to be (i've got a pretty bad scanner... oh well, until I get money it'll have to do...).Here Attica teaches the pixelated thing "tricks", which I showed as a game of fetch... except the Thing is eating a branch: this being my interpretation of the line "it ate almost anything".
Acrylics, blood, sweat and tears.
And I had to do half of it with a cold, so it may have bogies too.
Yummy.

his looks like it's gouache. how did you get the acrylics to look matte? i've tried that matte medium but it doesnt quite do it.

It looks a lot more textural at full size, trust me! I also spent AGES layering colours on top of each other like you would normally do with oils which could have something to do with it too...

You are SO odd! In the best way possible I love the pixelated thing. Where the fuck did you come up with an idea of having a pixelated monster? XD

This is COOL. I love the colours! Your mind is just weird enough to be perfect for kids books - like you never forgot how to be a kid. I am jealous.
BACON!

Thankyou! I'm in the process of bringing about 5 or 6 of the illustration into the final artwork stage; the rest will stay as roughs unless the book gets chosen for publication i'm afraid...

Nicely detailed and colored. I really like the character design and poses. Lovely setting and fine atmosphere.
