Had to re-upload cos I forgot the prince's scar!
It's for the Prince of Persia contest (UK res only). The prizes include an Xbox 360 and an A5 Wacom and seeing as i've never had a games console in my life (i'm 24; old!) and my cheap fake-Wacom graphics tablet is on it's last legs, I thought it would be a competition worth doing.
Factoid: Mainly painted to the sounds of 90's rave classics e.g. The Shamen.

if i am not mistaken, your print won a official contest held by ubisoft...great work...maybe some day ill draw (and paint) like you...great game by the way...hpe they release a sequel...with a more challenging gameplay...

THIS IS GORGEOUS! I also ive you mega infinite props for using acrylic in this age of digital paintings. It makes such an amazing difference - the rough texture you get in your brush strokes really adds so much to the painting, and fits the game. LOVE IT

This strikes me as a really interesting picture. I really loooove the interplay between texture and color. There's so much to look at in this picture, and yet it's still unified and very bold. I think what's most interesting is how the two people mimic eachother in pose and expression, and yet they are very, very different from eachother. And of course, the moon light is lovely. That greenish valley is really sweet. One of the best pictures I've seen in a while, for sure!

I think it might be the mouth. I was trying to stylize it by making it low down and long but I think it just makes his lower face look a bit weird. ^^

i guess its just not in my tastes, i think the prince doesn't look enough like the prince, for that matter niether does elika. His face rubs me the wrong way, also his hand and arm are at an unnatural angle. Also i dont like the roughly painted lower half of the picture, but that seems to have won you favour in some eyes so i guess it worked out. The picture in itself is fine, it just comes as a shock to me to see it take the first place. Congratulations and sorry if i offended, if you can win first place you can do a lot more, good luck

Well i'm already working as a professional illustrator and artist so I must be doing something right. ^^ This painting is in a VERY different style to my normal work though.
And I was very pleased you had the guts to comment on my page even if it was a mild flame. Everyone else seemed to comment on the page announcing the winners and said baseless things like they were annoyed that I hadn't played the game and therefore couldn't put any emotion into my entry. For a start the competition started before the game was released! Half the entrants hadn't played it. Secondly, the brief specified for us to use the reference material they provided and nothing else! Thirdly, what is wrong with putting emotion into your painting anyway? I care about all my work. Bah. Rant over. XD
Also, I was purposefully trying to make the Prince and Elika look different by making them less good looking in the "traditional" way but I now see that was a really bad idea as the purists have slated me for it. :/ Have you seen Cesars entry? It was the third place. It's SOO pretty.

yeah fair point about not having played the game/only using the specified material. have you played it now? did you get it for the prize? i didnt see what first place won. anyway its a great game.

As you'll probably notice they've cropped my image; I think a lot of people thought that what they see there is the whole thing.
And everything has arrived now except the Xbox itself (they say what each entry has won on the linked page). I love the T-shirt. It's bright pink and shows the evolution of the PoP game over the decades.

At first I wasnt too impressed with the painting and felt there must be another piece more worthy of first prize, but then I ventured to the full sized deviation, and was intrigued so much as to click 'dowload'. It was then that I was astounded by the ferocious style, impressed by the intricate patterns on the fabric and armour, amazed by the delicate skin tones and light falling on the characters. Congrtaultions on your win, it was well deserved

I don't care bout the trolling though; I get the biggest prizes! I'm not sure if my piece deserves to win either but if people aren't going to look at the full image and are going to shout illogical and baseless flames then their opinion doesn't count for much.

And where are people saying this doesn't deserve first place? I think whomever wins is subjective to whomever is judging. The judge pick what THEY feel PORTRAYS what they wanted. And apparently you did that. It's not only talent (which you have) but a picture with more talent than this could very well have less feeling.
Well done, I love how you can tell it was a hard worked on painting, it doesn't look perfect, which adds to the feeling. Wonderful work!

Like a lot of people, I also think Cesar should have won, but i'm just in love with the Ubisoft judges for choosing me!
I hope i'll be able to get a job in the computer games industry in the future actually. First I need to get the money for a brand new pooter that can run Maya on it, then spend a couple of years getting up to scratch with it. But I think I have the will to go through with it.
