Had to re-upload cos I forgot the prince's scar!
It's for the Prince of Persia contest (UK res only). The prizes include an Xbox 360 and an A5 Wacom and seeing as i've never had a games console in my life (i'm 24; old!) and my cheap fake-Wacom graphics tablet is on it's last legs, I thought it would be a competition worth doing.
Factoid: Mainly painted to the sounds of 90's rave classics e.g. The Shamen.

I especially love how you've painted the moon and the whole style of it, some of the proportions are a little off though but it doesn't make it look bad, great detail and shading :3

Wow. All those people going "OMG, WTF? WRONG PROPORTIONS ARE WRONG! N00B JUDGES! FUC U." Probably haven't even bothered to see the pic in it's entirey. The preview made the arm look long, but on the full pic, It looks fine.
And, I must say: If anything else was the decider, It was the claw. Because It looks like A CLAW, and not some sort of spicked gauntlet.
Not to say that the others sucked, but... Well, you get what I mean. I hope.

The arm IS a bit long and the legs aren't right. I haven't seen those comments yet but i'd probably agree with them. I just wish they'd post them somewhere I could see.
But anyway, I think I have more freedom of expression than a lot of the other entries had. You can have a "perfect" proportioned image that just lacks any sense of emotion.
Still don't think I deserved first though.

Well, I surpose a bit of proportinal upset here and there can be expected. Still, It looks fine from my point of view. And those comments are on the news report on the winners, just in case you want to find them.
Either way, A little bit of arm length here and there is a worthy sacrafice for a sence of emotion. And you've deffinatly shown more commitmant then others: After all, can you remeber anyone making a pic this detailed, then re-uploading it because you forgot a scar?
Well, You know what they say: Your worst critic is yourself. Hell, i've had first-hand experiance of that, So I can testify.

I'm really glad you agree with the emotion side of things. That's one thing I definately think I captured. It at least has some energy it it even if it's not anatomically perfect! I'm most definately my worst critic... and I think that's the way it should be. If you think your work is perfect you'll never strive to improve. The important thing is to not get yourself down about it all. We can all improve and find a style of our own.

i can totally see why this one.. its like the idea the theme and the feeling of the game are all present, but in a certain comforting and personal style. great work man, esspecially since there was sooo many really good pictures there.

yeah definitely. i think the judges new that very well, and when it comes to illustration and art, the whole splashing your personality onto something is what counts the most. you stuck to the brief, put 100% into it[acrylics! wow! really that was the perfect medium] and created something that was personal to you. and dude! you needed that console
