Had to re-upload cos I forgot the prince's scar!
It's for the Prince of Persia contest (UK res only). The prizes include an Xbox 360 and an A5 Wacom and seeing as i've never had a games console in my life (i'm 24; old!) and my cheap fake-Wacom graphics tablet is on it's last legs, I thought it would be a competition worth doing.
Factoid: Mainly painted to the sounds of 90's rave classics e.g. The Shamen.

Yeah, I think cropping it like that kills the effect a bit. I'd like to think most peeps who say it's amateur and disfigured haven't seen the whole thing.
It's not worth complaining about though. I don't really care what peeps say cos i've recieved recognition from some very talented at Ubisoft and i'm getting great prizes!
And there's nought wrong with being 24! It's next year that worries me... quarter of a century... EEP!

My deviant id was taken when I was 18 or 19! So yeah, i'd look younger in it. I'll put a new one up there soon.
And i'm getting an xbox 360, the PoP game for it, a Wacom Intuos A5, T-shirt, poster and a year suscription! Woohoo!

The textures from the paints are sensational, well done for winning 1st place. The only thing that I wasn't sure bout was the man character's face shape, but the rest makes up for it well.

I quite like the way I did his face; it was intentionally stylized, but I don't think it fits with Elika's face as hers is more natural. I should have either made them both stylized or both realistic, but hey, I won anyway so nevermind!

Your style is incredible! Has the bold beauty that the best digital artists in this genre grab, plus the depth and uniqueness of traditional techniques. In that way it perfectly fits the game as well!
Very much love your gallery also, I think your use of acrylics is really inspiring - makes me want to get mine out and do something ambitious with them..

Beautiful to look at. The colors match perfectly, and the prince always seems to be the first thing I look at because of that (bandanna?) he wears.
I was also tempted to say Yoshitaka Amano when I first looked at it.

Congratz on winning the contest! It's a shame that the crop of the image on the official page doesn't do the entire painting justice - having the rest of the image in really makes a difference. I love the stylised anatomy personally, the only thing that seems a little off to me is the woman's eyes appear to be at slightly the wrong angle compared to the rest of her face. Other than that, the composition flows beautifully, I adore the textures and colours you've used, and I think it's a great piece!

I hope most people look at the full image, but i've got a feeling quite a few will just straightforwardly dismiss it. I don't really mind though. If you're going to be so immediately judgemental about things whatever you say isn't worth a dime. The number of times i've seen a thumbnail and been pretty unenthused but then at full size been blown away are well... innumerable... It can happen the other way around too when a thumbnail looks good: OMG what a cool piece of... oh... ^^

Lol, yeah that's happens a lot! It's weird how things can look so very different small... I guess when y' can't see the details the composition becomes the main focus, and if that's kinda off it makes it look naff whereas you can kinda blind people to that a bit if your details are shiny-good
