...this would be obvious, but OH no.Not so subtle jab at the wannabes who fav random art off the "new art" page without even looking at them... just for the pageviews when that artist comes to their page to thank them for the fav.
I consider that practice cheap and shallow, and offenders of this should be smacked. Stop abusing the favorite system for the pageviews!
Fav art because you LIKE it!!
Edit: Thank you guys for all the faves and wonderful comments, I'm glad this strikes a chord with more then just me.

I had someone who favorited every art piece of every picture those he watched posted. He said he expected everyone to do the same for him, and whined about it over and over if he didn't get it. Then, oh then, he assumes you're friends with him just because he faves your art for no real reasoning. That ticks me off, too!

Those people annoy me... .3. I'm that kind of person who thanks for favourites, unless the artist's tells people not to no their page.
BUt when someone fav my work, and I go to their page, just to find out that my deviation is not the 20th last favourited after a few seconds, I just turn around and go back... >w>

They just want the pageview? Dude, when people fave my stuff, I'm like really happy and I'm especially happy with a comment, which if they comment I know they're not one of these people.
But, anyway... Why would they even do this? What value does a pageview have? ;-;
On another note, I like this stamp. It's really nice and taught me something about DeviantART and some of their people. I hope you don't mind if fave it. :3

I couldn't agree more with this. I don't mind the faves, and I love them... but when they just fave my art because of pageviews it really pisses me off.
For me, I like to revisit pieces that I fave because they ARE something that I love to look at. Isn't that the reason the fave system was created in the first place?

Ug I hate it when ppl get angry cuz of that! I faved someone's warrior fanart and the next day they posted a journal about how they hated it when ppl faved things they put less effort into and not things they spent hours on. Maybe I like the more simple things and not their oc's looking sexy ^^"... (trust me, boobs are not my thing). It doesn't mean everyone hates that kind of stuff, but I don't like it, so I fav what I like it their gallery cuz I like it not cuz it looks like they spent hours and hours on it..

Yes, I hate it when you go to thank someone for the fave and you look on their page and the ONLY thing that they have are faves, no art, no journal, no nothing.
And the fact that sometimes they don't even say "You're welcome" makes it feel like they really didn't like the piece; they did just want pageviews for some godforsaken reason.
But yes, I comment most of the time, but when I get a lot of images that I really like and I fave sometimes I just leave one comment, commenting on the artist's style rather than each individual picture

I don't comment much... (I'm what many would call a "fav n' runner") but I favorite art that I like so I can return and look back at it... appreciate it more... You might find a new meaning in a piece or somethin'. ^_^

I'm using this stamp as soon as I get a subscription.That's annoying when people fave random stuff.I like to look at people's stats when they fave something of mine.And I saw a guy that had over 20,000 favorites in just two months.

Absolutely. I go through my entire History every month or so, fave what I like, let the rest fall into oblivion. I've probably spent hundreds of hours doing that. But it's worth it, because so many times I click on something and only later have the time to look and say, "This is really beautiful and deserves a fave." Why would I fave art that I didn't like? That's abusing the feature.

Also the chain-favers who type in a keyword and fave EVERYTHING. My boyfriend and I have been hit by deviants with a few thousand images in their faves who haven't commented on any images or artists, or uploaded anything of their own.
And several of the galleries contained a high amount of blatantly pornographic material.

Why would someone do that? It's pointless. You Fave things so that you can find the art you enjoy looking at latter without hassle. It's not like getting so many pageviews gets you anything, so why clogg up your favorites with usless art that you don't even like?
It's not really that hard to find stuff that you enjoy. I mean, I have over 30 pages, and I even shift through all my favorites every few months to clean it out. It may take a littel more time, but they could really enjoy DA a lot more if they took up the practice of actually faving their favorite pics
