...this would be obvious, but OH no.Not so subtle jab at the wannabes who fav random art off the "new art" page without even looking at them... just for the pageviews when that artist comes to their page to thank them for the fav.
I consider that practice cheap and shallow, and offenders of this should be smacked. Stop abusing the favorite system for the pageviews!
Fav art because you LIKE it!!

I only fav art that I really like. Well, closer to artists. I dun even look at my pageviews.. I know that it's somewhere over 1000 since last time I checked.. I think.. maybe... not sure.. I can't remember....
Honestly, I don't really care about the recognition of my own art. But then, I haven't uploaded a single one of my pieces since I got my Tablet. And it made my art TONS better. And there's been some really good pieces.... but I'm too lazy to upload them myself. And too paranoid about art theft. Not that my art's even worth stealing, on any account.
Butyeah. i only fav a piece if I think that the artist themselves deserve the recognition for the piece. I've colored linearts before, and I put copyright to THEM on the art. And there isn't even a copyright to me. Why? Because it's there art. Anybody with half a brain can color. And though I might like coloring other's linearts(because my own completely SUCK) I give full credit for the entire piece to them.
But yeah. Now I'm going off topic. I FAV WHAT I LOVE. I gave up faving what I liked when my fav list got too long.

Yeah.. I'm probably going to take some and just delete everything by them... for the ones that I watched that I only somewhat like their art. Not that I'm even going to be able to go through it anytime soon, as I have finals next week and the week after, so I'm packed with getting school stuff done, and what little time I can salvage goes to running the RP sites. And my wajas account.
So.. between that and my own massive tendency to procrastinate, I wouldn't be surprized if it hit 2000. Though.. I really do hope I get to it before then... given that it's only now at 1688... that's... 312 more deviations? And at least three weeks before finals are over....

I always get these people doing that. At first I'm happy to see I get a fav, I go to their page to thank them, and I notice they had faved a bunch of random deviations, and it's sad...

I agree with this stamp, I really hate feeling all happy someone liked my art enough to favourite it, to go to their page and find out that is all they do, empty gallery or 2 or 3 things and the rest is a long list of favourites and people thanking them..
What I think DeviantART should do is make the "Pageview"counter hidden to only the owner of each account, because even if they want their pageview count to be high.. no one will bother if no one else can see how high it actually is, I think that would also stop a lot of this popularity bubbler and maybe will actually calm down a lot of the n00bs and such... ehh I'll stop their.. sorry for the rant.

WOW, that's a really good idea... Honestly, hiding the number itself... would cut down on a LOT of the struggle just to have a high number... I think you're on to something. Never even occurred to me.

Its just this whole pageview business really annoys me, just the other day i stopped watching one of my good friends because that's all she does, favourites every new art work and watches every new deviant then sets her gallery up so No comments are allowed then she gets hundreds of Favourites from all these poor new deviants.. and then she only posts up what is popular either Naruto fan art or art photo-manipulations that look like every single other one she has done.. it sickens me.. all for Pageviews!!!!!!!

I'd sign that... it's odd, I don't really know when my pageviews exploded, but suddenly people act like I'm super popular or something. o.o I'm not, seriously. I'm just someone on DA, and I respond to every comment posted... But people spaz like having 40k is something amazing.
I think if we were given the choice to hide our pageviews, I probably would.

Yeah I know what you mean..My bf has over 100k Pageviews and people actually think he's stuck up popular artist or something like that and it really annoys me how little dev girls start flirting on his page only because he must be popular because of his pgviews..
