Thanks a lot I don't duplicate layer and when I use desaturated I lose many points, the image didn't look good.

right. where there is pure black or white you won't get the dots. so you want a gradient from light gray to dark gray.

i did every thing it says and where i get stuck is the overlay part... i put it on over lay and nothing happens looks exactly the same

This is awesome but reading it with the half tone background kind of hurts my head. >.< Thanks for the info though. I'll definitely try it when I'm bored and playing around on gimp.
