Thanks a lot I don't duplicate layer and when I use desaturated I lose many points, the image didn't look good.

right. where there is pure black or white you won't get the dots. so you want a gradient from light gray to dark gray.

i did every thing it says and where i get stuck is the overlay part... i put it on over lay and nothing happens looks exactly the same

It's ok. It happens sometimes. It probably doesn't help that I was reading it on a tiny netbook computer screen though.
