Thanks a bunch! Wow, really! Thank you soo much! I've been looking for this type of effect for months already and had a really hard time figuring out how to do it. I've seen several graphic arts having this kind of pattern and yet I really can't come up with a proper method of how to do it. Thanks for sharing. ^_^

Its a great tutorial! The only thing I would recommend is adding some matting to the text or something, because it gets difficult to read near the bottom =/

yeah, i've tried the ps tuts and found that they don't translate well to gimp sometimes. that's why i came up with my versions. there is a part two BTW.

anyways, post the link to the ps tut and i'll see if i can come up with something.

when you open a new canvas, the menu bar is along the top of the window. filters is one of the options. click on it and a drop down appears.

You could also expand your knowledge with these tutorials: tutorial-popart

I'll try to combine them with yours and see if it is as simple as doing it with Photoshop... (cross your fingers )
