Why do these ponies have to have such crazy hair

It wasn't much of a surprise to others that Sky Stinger and Vapor Trail clung to each other after they met as foals. Vapor Trail got to escape from her smothering parents, and Sky Stinger finally had someone to give him constant attention and praise. And if spending time with Sky meant Vapor occasionally gave him a wind boost when they were flying, so what? She didn't see the harm in it, until his confidence turned into aggressive cockiness and almost destroyed his chances of achieving his dream of being a Wonderbolt. Fortuntately, with Twilight and Rainbow Dash's help, both Sky and Vapor were able to improve themselves and ace their auditions into the cadet program, where they both became Lead Ponies during training.

Vapor Trail had been crushing on Sky since they were teenagers, but her friend seemed a bit too into his own talent to notice her affection. After they both became Lead Pony Cadets and Vapor was able to fully blossom in the spotlight of the academy, Sky Stinger started to realize how much she meant to him. It seemed the only time he lacked confidence is when he tried to to openly share his feelings with Vapor, immediately feeling embarrassed and fly away. It ended up taking Vapor Trail egging him on playfully until he blurted the truth to her, and she knocked him over in a tackled hug in response.

It was Vapor's idea that the two not get married until they had officially become Wonderbolts, especially since it was clear they both wanted to work hard and focus on their careers. Fortuntately, they became full-fledged Wonderbolts just under two years later, allowing Dash to mention that they could finally tie the knot and invite everyone at headquarters to the wedding. It took another year to plan the wedding, but they did indeed invite every Wonderbolt, along with their families, to celebrate their special day. Vapor and Sky wanted to have a child immediately after getting married, joking that they could be a family of Wonderbolts when their kid got old enough. Unfortuntely, Vapor Trail suffered multiple miscarriages and the couple doubted that they'd be able to have a foal of their own. It took a toll on Vapor, who struggled with the idea of not being able to be a mother. But when they least expected it, Vapor became pregnant again, this time with a child she was able to carry to term. Jade Lightning was their little miracle and knowing the chances of them having another was impossible (due to a necessary procedure during Jade's birth), the couple catered to their colt in every way, while doing their best to allow him to be independent.
