Sarah and Evan let out a sigh of relief. "Wait.....wait you guys knew I was...." Andy said. Sarah and Evan nodded. Andy sat there. "sweetheart, yes we knew. But, we wanted you to come to grips with it." Sarah said. "Then the accident happened and we just figured one thing at a time." Sarah added.

Andy just sat there stunned. "How did you figure it out?" Andy asked them. "Son.....the first clue was when you were about 14. We overheard you and Jordan talking. Jordan asked you about a girl he liked. And your reaction was, "ew gross". Your mother and I heard you and talked afterwards. Then the second clue was when Smitty's father passed away. You were 15. You spent all day with him. Even his mother was surprised. But what really gave it away for us, was the fact that you've never brought a girl home. But what really cemented it for us was when we were on vacation last year in Disney. You kept staring at the group of boys at the hotel we were staying at. Andy, we knew for awhile." Evan said.

Andy sat there. "so, your both ok with me being gay?" Andy asked them. "Son, we love you. Nothing will EVER change that." Evan said. Sarah nodded. "sweetheart, I don't care who you love. As long as they love you back and treat you right." Sarah said. Andy smiled. Evan stood up. "Besides, for some reason; and it's a stereotype of course, Gay men seem to know how to party and have fun." Evan said smiling. Sarah closed her eyes and shook her head. "You're not helping." Sarah said to Evan.

Andy walked over to them and hugged his parents. Sarah and Evan hugged him back. "now, go call Mason, and accept his invitation." Sarah said. Andy nodded and walked into the kitchen. Sarah and Evan looked at each other. "you know he's not going to do it ....rite?" Sarah said to Evan. "Maybe, maybe not. But let him make the choice." Evan said. Sarah nodded. Evan smiled. "besides, I think Mason will be good for Andy." Evan said. Sarah nodded. "But do you think we should've not pushed the issue? I mean we basically forced it out of him." Sarah asked. "No, we probably shouldn't done that. But, he had to let it out. If he kept that inside him, It could prevent him from being HIM." Evan said. "Besides, he overcame what happened to him after the accident. If he can do that, he can accept who he loves, and so should we." Evan said.

Andy grabbed his cell phone and dialed Mason's number. It rang a couple times. "Hello." Mason answered. "uhhh, Smitty it's me. Andy. Listen.....I'm sorry about earlier. And yes, I would love to go to Prom with you." Andy said. Mason was speechless. "smitty....you there?" Andy asked. "Uhhhh.....yeah. Sorry Andy, I didn't think you would call. Are you sure? I mean....." Mason said. Andy chuckled. "yes Mason, I'm sure." Andy said. Mason was speechless again. "Smitty, Smitty. Say something." Andy said. "yeah, yeah. Sorry Andy. But I have an idea that will save us both from embarrassment." Mason said. Andy was curious. "what's that Smitty?" Andy said.

"well, we each find a girl to go with, this way we don't draw attention. Besides, most everyone knows I'm gay anyway, but they might not know about you. So, we each bring a date, that way we don't have rumors going around. What do ya think?" Mason said. Andy nodded, "yeah Smitty, yeah. That's a good idea. Ok, we'll each bring a date." Andy said. Mason smiled. "alright Andy, I'll see ya Monday." Mason said. Andy nodded and hung up the phone.

Sarah was standing in the doorway listening. "Oh good God" Sarah whispered to herself. Evan walked into the kitchen. "did he call Smitty?" Evan asked her. Sarah nodded. "yeah, yeah he did. But Mason suggested each bring a date." Sarah said. "Well you know he doesn't like attention. But Sarah.....let him make his own choices." Evan said. Sarah nodded.

NOTES: I made a few revisions to this chapter. As was pointed out to me ( and they are correct) Andy's parents "forced" his coming out to them. Not my intention to do harm to the character but in my eyes they were being loving parents in their own way. But not the best idea. Like my grandma used to say "No parent is perfect. Kids don't come with an instruction manual. We raise our children by the seat of our pants, the best way we know how" Not kidding she actually said that.
That being said, The "detour" I hinted at in the notes in last chapter, I've decided to leave for a deleted scene later on.
