2017 was a pretty busy year for Sonic since we had 2 new Sonic games (quality may vary), Sonic Boom season 2 continued and concluded, and we came to the end of the Archie comics. So what do I think we could come to expect out of Sonic in 2018? well aside from a few things, I actually think there's not going to be a whole lot this year. Now for the record the reception of Sonic Forces has little to do with this, cause even if that game was receieved much better, my preditctions wouldn't be that much different. I believe 2018's going to be the same as 2015 where we don't get any big retail Sonic games, and at best we'll get a few mobile games and an announcment for a game coming in 2019. Why do I think this? well I feel after a year as big as 2017, Sega and Sonic Team might want to use 2018 as a rest year so they could use the time to think about what to improve apon in the next Sonic game, as well as give other Sonic developers like the Mania team plenty of time to work on their own Sonic games (if they're actually in development of course). Really the biggest things we're going to get out of Sonic this year is the launch of the new IDW comics, and if we're really lucky we could even get a sneak preview of the upcoming movie supposedly releasing next year. Would it be cool if I was wrong and 2018 turned out to be a really big year for Sonic? sure I suppose. But I just feel after coming from a big year like 2017, it may be for the best that we lower our expectations and just do exactly what Sonic's doing in the meme i'm using.
