Description
This was done for an assignment in one of my design classes. We were to make two versions of an advertisement for a coffee shop ("Coffee & Cookies") using the logo we previously created, a slogan, warm coffee/cookie photo, and the shop's "address".I found this assignment quite enjoyable. It reminded me of all of the posters, flyers, brochures, and advertising projects I created at my previous job.
Version 1. I was going for a simple, soothing feeling. I targeted those people who want to relax for an hour at a coffee shop with a newspaper or book. So I warmed up the photo's color, added a soft blur, and used a gradient background. I think the overall effect is quite calming.
Version 2. I decided to go in the opposite direction with this one. I wanted bold, sophisticated, and a little edgy while still being warm and inviting. Basically, something that might appeal more to the young professionals who want to pop in for a quick cup of java and cookie while on break from their high-powered jobs.
To tie both ads together, I used the same fonts. The script font is Tagettes by Pia Frauss [link] and the sans-serif font is Calibri. The photos are free stock I've gathered over recent years. I believe most came from stock.xchng. [link]
PS: I know the logo is awful. We had to create it in Flash, not Illustrator. And it was only my third time ever using Flash so...

Haha... I know, right? Actually, I was a marketing assistant for the last two and a half years. One of my "jobs" was to do advertisements and printed materials for our organization's various services and events. I stopped working so I could focus on school and get my degree faster. Trying to do both full time was a nightmare. I barely slept.
