Little of both. I want to start doing more boards for film and less non-comic print stuff, and I was starting to coast a little in Provo. Getting lazy and comfy.

Again, a little bit of both. I came out here with a few leads, waiting to hear back on those, and looking for more options. I've still got the freelance work I brought with me and some comics stuff going on, but I'm on the lookout for anything and everything new. Are you still out in the bay? How's that treating you?

Im in Seattle now. The studio I was at in the Bay area shut down our project and let our team go back in February. Im now at Amazon doing social gaming.
The Bay area was nice but I felt like the studios up there took advantage of a lot of the artists.
Are you looking mostly at film studios or are you also looking into tv?
Seattle has been great so far, we love the area.

I've only heard good things from my Seattle friends. I've heard there's enough game industry in Seattle that employers have to be pretty competitive to keep good employees, that must be nice. I am also looking into tv-- I'm actually putting in for a tv gig today-- and pretty much anything that gets paid. Just looking to work locally as much as I can.

It's still screening in festivals, but I should have it online sometime this fall. And I'm really bad about updating folks about screenings, because I suck. I'll make sure to let you know when it's online, though.

Some of his unique perspective has to do with his background as a Japanese animator in a flooded industry. Lots of displeasure (not quite anger) with his surroundings at the time in 1979.
The rest of what makes his thinking so unique, I am unable to explain. Perhaps the enigma is part of the fun in reading what he has to say. His mental framework is so singular.

Yeah, I thought it was interesting to hear him lament in the 70's how the Japanese animation industry was so over-saturated with sub-par material. I'd be curious to hear what he thinks of the current state of things.

I thought the same thing. There's still not much in the way of "pilots who build their own mecha." So you know he's not happy about that.
