Description
So i remember Coming to Deviantart way back in 2011 and collabing with this User, ( he's deleted his page now, where the rest of this comic was placed) that had this very cool idea for a Comic. I was never fussed about creating a Comic, i love to read them - that's about it really but his idea seemed very entertaining to me.The concept was basically, these 2 time travelling characters, 'The Art Thief' (an 18 year old hooded character that one could only see part of his face - addicted to pop tarts and energy drinks) and Professor Diggil, (a genius Einstein-esq Character who wheres a top hat and a scarf around his face) mundane characters? maybe..same as i thought but the Storyline caught my Attention.
Time traveling in a ship, ' The Artemis', ( always reminded me of a Sharpened pencil at both ends ) to different periods in history, stealing Rare and unique Art treasures that would lead them to the most fabulous object in one of the many parallel universes, which leads them on a quest to find the lost Library of Alexandria which suddenly vanished off the face of the Earth !, ( in the storyline that is ) the Library holds the next clue in the Search for the most fabulous object in the..blah..blah.. still mundane ? now wait..in order for them to locate the lost Library of Alexandria - they need the key or Tempest..so... jumping right in at this random Episode, Called, 'Spark of The Tempest', we see The Two Time traveling treasure Hunters searching for Tempest. now, like i said, i only have 3 sections of This episode because the rest was on the creators deviant page and now lost in time, ( he was on Text, me doing the rest, i only have these pencil Drawings....
As you'll See, in the next 2 frame ill upload, , Tempest is buried under the Sand...etc..etc.. Frame.2 link, www.deviantart.com/brendan11/a…

I know you're not here to receive compliments, but I can't stop surprising you with your illustrations. I like the quality of the lines, the shadows, the structure, the style ... You do a great job!

See. this is the sort of thing I should be doing as practice, well or badly. And I am doing it now, badly, but that's a phase through which one must pass. We can't just jump into being great.
But, damn, you are a rendering fool! LOL

I have to buckle down on my training: character sheets, paneling, layout - all the work of cartooning/sequential art to which I haven't devoted significant time and energy. So the stuff I'm strong at just has to wait, until the stuff I'm weak at catches up. Turn weakness into strength - the emphasis here is on the verb, turn, because it won't happen by itself . . . I've been waiting for it long enough to know that by now. haha.
All the same, my approach is to use the characters in all my exercises and examples - which started when I was doing the gesture's with Karen. (I'm thinking about doing the same, now, with Amoebos and the others, just to get facile drawing them in any pose.) So, when I do sequences, I'll likely script something from the World Girl idea cluster. Literally everything I do will relate to it one way or another. And hopefully as things move along, they'll transition into a weekly strip or comic book page. And when all the skills are in place, do a written script and layout for a one-shot.

So it's your artistic duty to find the perfect balance between the strong and the weakest elements ? allow one to catch up with the other. Yep you're the artistic equivalent to YODA !lol. in the past i've just thrown the weak and the strong into the mix together, hence that's why you pick so many faults in my art !lolol..do you class yourself as a perfectionist ?
It'll be so entertaining to see other Characters to have the same gesture treatment as Karen - i look forward to that.
i personally think, your Graphic novel will be brilliant...! hint hint..

Oh, no. I don't think that's what you did. I think you found a strength and latched onto it like grim death. You press your strengths. Pressed them to the limit, in fact. And now you're up against a stone wall that won't give an inch. And if you're like the bulk of Natural's, this is the end of the line, as far as you'll go. Because to go farther ahead means to go back and fill in what's missing - and that training. You never trained in art methodically. You got by on wits on the spur of the moment, based on enthusiasm. But that gets one only so far - and rightly so. Imagine how unfair would be a world in which one achieves mastery without training, without effort, without knowledge, without forging the prerequisite skill? And most of all, without conditioning himself to endure the rigors of it!
The faults in your art I see are not in the art you do - they show by their absence in it.
Do I class myself a perfectionist? Have you seen my work? I'm a slob (an art slob as opposed to an art snob lol). So in that respect I would have to say "no." But, I do have my pride and can't stand not measuring up to my own standard. It can paralyze me to be faced with a deadline when I don't have a grip on what needs to be done, or when what needs to be done is something I can't do well. That accounts for why I'm still working on my assignments for Joe, even though they were due in 2003 and he's since passed away.
