For this week's personal project, I decided to draw something related to a subject matter very dear to my heart.

For as long as I can remember, Cyberpunk has always been a thing that interested me but that I never caught the aesthetic of. It's most likely because there's not just one type of cyberpunk out there. We have things as different as Blade Runner, Ghost in the Shell, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Alita: Battle Angel, The Matrix and Ready Player One, all thrown together into the same bag of cyberpunk. There is one piece of this however that I very rarely see portrayed in most examples. I like the idea of hackers that we got from movies from the 90's, like "The Net", "Sneakers", or especially the one simply titled "Hackers". Weirdly dressed punks with laptops that rattle at keyboards without so much looking at what they're typing or make heads or tails of it. So I decided to make this week's project themed around this topic.

I went with my own birb because I had no other ideas for a hacker. I could've used a rat, try going for the double entendre of a rodent sneaking around the net, like a mouse controlling a computer. But I felt more comfortable drawing something familiar, then giving him some ridiculous fashion sense, like those mini-pockets with individual USB ports (maybe he has programs on each, or different OSs, or viruses, etc.). I wanted to give this picture a battery of textures and feels, for no reason other than I wanted it to look cool. And yes, I went with blue and magenta again, sorry guys. Turns out this specific type of cyberpunk look relies heavily on those two colors, which if we follow the theme of dystopian future you could say we're already there since all movie posters are teal and orange.
