Description I shot this image the morning that we had to fly back to Toronto from Cozumel and it was the best sunrise of the trip. I woke up and the sky looked clear as a could see stars overhead as I left the resort but when I was halfway to the location it started to poor and I almost turned back. I'm glad I ddin't because after sitting in the car for about 15 minutes the rain died down and the sky opened up. I had never seen a sunrise like this before and I managed to take about two dozen exposures before the rain began again and I had to make a mad dash for the car. A morning I soon won't forget.

Sorry for the late reply, I am not as active on this site as I used to be. Β Did you have a print size in mind? Β Once I know what size print you want I can give you a price...or if you have a particular budget in mind I can work with that too. Β Feel free to send me a private message. Β Thanks for your interest!

I stay on the small side with art for my walls, generally between a 5x7 and 8x10 print, and if luster is available, I prefer it. Β I have frames already, and pick out a mat to match the print to the frame at Hobby Lobby. Β I've moved a lot and prefer to stay 'downsized' in my possessions. Β This has a very special quality I could look at for a long time and not get tired of. Β ;-D

I see some really beautiful additions to your gallery since the last time I looked through it.

I really love the gentle intensity of this. that sky is amazing. And I adore all of the different patterns & textures that comprise the landscape, with the clouds and rocks and the subtle swelling of the water. Great capture.

By the way I don't see you on here very often anymore are you back or do you just check out what's going on every once in a while?

You're welcome, my pleasure.

I have a lot going on and somethings that way very heavily on me these days, so I spend very little time online on places like DA. I've barely even worked on my own art. Last month was probably the first time that I picked up the camera since October. So, honestly, I'm just popping in to check out the scene a bit, share whatever I've actually managed to produce, and check in on some DA friends/acquaintances.

Well I sure hope things get better for you in the future and start to slow down a bit to allow more time for your creative side. You are a very talented artist which is evident from your work and I hope to see more of it. Also the fact that you are able to create these photographs using minimal equipment just shows how much passion you have. I hope to see more in the future. Did you go to school for Photography or art or anything like that?

Gosia In reply to JamesHackland [2008-04-21 23:52:10 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, I appreciate it.

You know, I wish I was one of those people that turn negative energy into something positive, and who channel their anger/frustration/pain into their art. Unfortunately, when I'm having a tough time, I end up losing my creative drive and artistic inspiration. So I'm not a very productive artist in terms of quantity, but I try to make up for it in quality.

And you're right, I do feel passionately about
photography; I like to experiment and produce images that are unique. I like to try and bring out the beauty even in small, simple things.

No, I didn't study art/photography in school. I've always had an interest in different forms of art, though, and I've dabbled in different mediums throughout my life. I became interested in photography in 2004 when I started exploring online art galleries. One day I decided to try my hand at it and realized that I really enjoyed it. Ever since then, I've just been learning on my own through practice, critique from others, and reading books/articles on photography.

What about you?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JamesHackland In reply to Gosia [2008-04-22 03:55:54 +0000 UTC]

Well you certainly do make up up for it in quality. That's very impressive that you are self taught it's quite an accomplishment.

I graduated from college three years ago, it was a program aimed at teaching students to be Commercial Photographers as opposed to the art side of things. It was a great program and it gave me the grounding necessary for photography but I have learned so much more since just by shooting and assisting other photographers. It is only in the past couple of years though that I have become passionate about my landscape work and I am constantly trying to evolve and improve my skills.

Do you mind if I add you on MSN?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Gosia In reply to JamesHackland [2008-04-24 01:46:26 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I think that like with other forms of art, photography is a lot about practice, building on skills, trial & error, and observation. The more you shoot, the keener your eyes become, and the more aware you become of what works and what doesn't as well as how to best utilize your equipment.

It's cool though that you got a chance to study photography in school. I've considered checking out a class or workshop, but never really got around to it.

And no, of course I don't mind if you add me on MSN...go right ahead...I just can't promise that you'll see me on there very often.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JamesHackland In reply to Gosia [2008-04-24 17:44:55 +0000 UTC]

Yes I completely agree there is no better way to learn than to actually get out there shooting.

Alright I will add you on MSN then although I'm not on there very often either because whenever I am I get distracted from what I'm supposed to be doing and don't accomplish very much.
