*doodlebot-squared expressed a sense of intimidation concerning the master chief’s armor. I agree, it is a daunting task to undertake, so I told her I’d try and make something that casual artists can use.
I’ve noticed a lot of inconsistencies with the Chief’s armor (specifically his arms and legs) from official art to figures across the globe. They are all basically similar, but different levels of detail make it hard to decide exactly how much work to put into a drawing. If you want to make something really realistic and lifelike, then this tutorial might help a little, but you really need to be looking at tons and tons of reference pictures and official Bungie artwork because only they know exactly what the Chief looks like. The best place to find a ref is in the game itself, if you can drop Chief into Forge and fly the monitor around to look at him from all angles, you are guaranteed an accurate account of the chinks and plates and etc. What I’ve given you here is something I’ve mostly committed to memory that isn’t too hairy and involved. I would doublecheck my work with the references above for accuracy and every time I found something I needed to attempt two or three times, I scrapped it and replaced it with an easier shape. Please tell me if this was helpful.

Just remember the guide is for easier more convenient Mjolnir-ing. It's practically sick with inaccuracies, but it's easier for me to remember if I'm drawing Spartans off the top of my head.

Incredibly useful, will help me greatly when i finally get around to drawing my spartan, alongside my mates Sangheili, so far ive got a stupidly rough sketch, so this will be great for helping with detail bits

Wow. You're a lifesaver. ^^ It all seemed so frustratingly complicated before...
This made me feel so much better about drawing the full armor. I could only go to the middle of his chest and then it would all just be a mess after that.

lol its got a lot wrong with it... and its still insanely complicated, but its the model I usually use to make it easier. By drawing his armor this way, I can draw it from memory, which is great for comics and whatever

Nice tutorial jame! I don't usually go for simplicity as far as chief goes, cause I'm a detail freak, but for anyone who wants to draw john, well this is a pretty well rounded tutorial.
The pizza with wings, made me laugh though, alot.
Cause seriously, who woulda thunk.. that the mark VII Mjolnir armor's gauntlets in all their sophistication and awesomeness...
would look like a flying slice of pizza. Only jame.
