My friend *CatbeeCache has been working on practicing sequential art and putting together a portfolio for Archie. She's the one who did the lineart here, taking some script snippets Ian Flynn, the current head writer of Archie, had provided as examples to help give people who wanna break into the business a boost.I've decided I want to be a colorist (though also toying with the idea of writer) and have been doing a ton of experimenting with Photoshop to find a style for comic books that I like. I think I've finally nailed it here - now the challenge is to work on my speed. I've heard a professional colorist does about two pages a day, and it took me all night just to finish this one @_@ Most of it was in laying down the flats and toying with the grass so Bean wouldn't blend in with it. Urrg. The shading itself took no time at all though. In any case it looks like I've got a long ways to go. I need more material to practice on @_@
CRITIQUE IS HIGHLY REQUESTED FOR THE COLORING.

Good job.
Only critique I could think of is relating to Shadow's.... well, his shadow.
The shadow itself appears flat over Bean when there's normally a minor ripple effect.
I can see the ripple on the back of Bean, but I feel the shadow would cast a little more over Bean's backside, covering most of the back of Bean's head down to the base of his bottom tail tuft.
Then again, I for one know how difficult it is to make a casting shadow that does NOT look flat while over an object.
And I just noticed Fiona's ear in the first lacks an opening.
Unless it's folding back to show her aggression towards Bark.[/animal instincts]
The light source on the last two panels appears to have been shifted on Bean's head/hair and his shoe so much light on it when beneath the shade.[/nitpicky]
Overall, great work.

That was what I thought about Fiona's ears, that it was folded back to further intimidate Bark.
And the shading does looks better now

I figured her ears were folded back in the first panel, as canines tend to do this as a show of aggression. But that's more something to point out to Deebs since I'm not responsible for the lineart n.n;;
As for Shadow's namesame... hmm, yeah, I see what you're saying there about the fading. Took me a few minutes though. I also fixed the shading on Bean's back and arm... that look any better?

Lovely colours and lineart! I can't say much since I'm hardly as good as you or your friend, but I think it looks as professional as the folks at Archie. Good luck to the both of you, though!

I must say I already saw the original sketch & inked B&W versions on Catbee's gallery. (She did a really great job on the characters, I must add, I hope she does get the job on the comic.)
Your coloring really helps bring this to life.
I like how you rendered the tree, and the grass, as well. Your shading is quite good to, I can't think of much to critique.
I think Fiona's hair color looks a li'l to simular to her fur color though. I think it could use a slightly darker brown perhaps. Still looks quite good though.
BTW good luck getting a colorist job at Archie. 
I remember Matt Herms got to be both a penciller/artist, and a colorist. It's amazing how many "fans" of the comic have grown-up, and gone to work for the series.

Yikes...two pages a day? I REALLY need to pick up the pace if I ever want to break into this type of field as well...what is the average for penciling, do you know?
