Description So... first group shot.
All the emoticons I've finished so far. These are the four from the stressball set. That set gave me the idea for the project in the first place.

Doesn't mean I'll stop now. Many more to come.

Full view recommended.

All emoticons I've done so far can be found here: [link]

I am crocheting one according to your pattern right now and it is NOT this size, it is way bigger! o.o I should have used thinner string!

janey-in-a-bottle In reply to Cookiez777 [2011-10-29 11:56:32 +0000 UTC]

haha, yeah. I have much better access to thin yarn over here.
but hey, others have crocheted really big ones using my patterns, too: [link]
and well, it's gonna be a stressball. in that case it's "the bigger, the better", right?

which one are you crocheting? *is very curious*

It's crazy how where you live can make a difference in your crocheting! Anyway, yes, the size of her stress ball is about how big mine will be, but it is better stres-relief-wise!

Im crocheting the ":l" faced one but in green.

Once Im done I'll post up pictures!

This is SO freaking cool! I saw DA's ones and they are sooooo expensive..I'm so glad you put these up! Hell, these are even better since they're personally made. Thank you!

haha, well the price was originally one of the reasons I decided to make these. though seeing the amount of work put into them, they'd be a lot more expensive than the dA ones.

glad you like them.

VERY true. Handmade stuff is definitely more expensive than machine things!

I'm surprised that people are actually willing to pay the more expensive prices for handmade stuff when they could have it cheaper off the rack.
looks like some still appreciate having something unique.

Hilarious! I need to make my mom a set of those. Did you use plastic beans?

janey-in-a-bottle In reply to AvatarSatsuki [2011-01-31 23:32:59 +0000 UTC]

glad you like them.
I have the patterns for all but the rage one in my gallery, if you're interested.

since I don't have any plastic beans, I used polyester filling. it makes the balls incredibly light (about 15g each at that size), so kicking them around is out of the question. you'd never find them again.
I guess with plastic beans as the filling you could have more fun with them.

AvatarSatsuki In reply to janey-in-a-bottle [2011-01-31 23:41:51 +0000 UTC]

Awesome, thank you so much. I'd also have to keep them out of cat's reach, then I'd really never find them again!
Looks like I mihgt have to stuff the carp out of them. I wonder if dry black beans would help...

janey-in-a-bottle In reply to AvatarSatsuki [2011-01-31 23:49:18 +0000 UTC]

if you don't want/need to wash them later, then you could go for dry beans. otherwise you might want to stay with the plastic variant or polyester filling.
I keep my stressballs behind glass doors in the living room cabinet. pretty to look at, but out of reach.

well, you COULD have them. I have the patterns for them in my gallery (minus the one, because I forgot to write down the pattern for the mouth... ). so if you can crochet, you can make your own.

thanks for the fav.

I find knitting to be much harder than crocheting.
if you ever went and tried to knit one of these, you'd have my everlasting adoration.
I've stopped knitting yeeears ago.

glad you like them and that they inspire you.

Oh my, I just can't stop looking at them!
I don't know why, but they look so much more showy and pretty than the original stressbals set!

I love the strong colors!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

janey-in-a-bottle In reply to AxlRosie [2009-12-14 10:38:21 +0000 UTC]

mine are smaller, though...
(hmmm... I've taken a comparison pic on halloween, but it seems I never uploaded it anywhere... maybe later ^^)

one reason for making the balls myself (apart from not wanting to buy a set) was because I would be able to choose the colors closer to the original emotes.

yes, they have... that was what inspired me to make some of my own after I held these in my hands.
