This is a small, yet necessary retcon. Now in the original Teen Titans, Jinx is very much different from hero comics counterpart, from both appearance and powers. While Jinx in the show was soley probability manipuation, and so forth, Jinx in the comics commanded elements and manipulating magic, and is technically more well versed. Many do have a complaint about season 5, especially most recently, and Jinx's redemption arc coming off as coming left field and random. So I justify this by going back to the 2003 version's origin. During the events of Season 5, Jinx handed herself over the Authorities. And confessed to all of her past actions (hence why when we see her in that story's conclusion, she came in the last minute with Kid Flash). But if there was any true reason why she was a criminal in the first place, it was because of The first Jinx. As established in the DC Unlimited continuity, the 2003 version of Jinx is Linda Park, (as many Flash Fans will know her as Wally West's wife). And that she wanted to be a journalist like either Lois Lane or Iris West, but saw how far journalism fell. How she got her powers is because the original cursed her with hexing abilities, making her an outcast that was shunned by society. When she joined the HIVE Five, it was more in vein with the hooligans from A Clockwork Orange, but much tamer in comparison, as even though she was a villain, creating havoc for the HIVE Academy, and although she was fighting the Titans, it comes off as she wasn't trying to kill anyone, as deep down, Linda knew that killing was really a line, no one would ever come back from. But for years, the original Jinx would haunt Linda in the back of her mind, taunting her into believing that her bad luck would never allow her to become good. That was until she met Wally West. So another question that should be asked is..."Why Kid Flash" To answer that, Wally remembers Linda as she was a native to Keystone City. And both had a friendship back in Middle School, before Wally recreated the experiment that gave Barry Allen his powers as The Flash. Now whether or not Linda faces Jinx again is only a matter of time. And this time, she'll be prepared.
